Think ive resigned myself to the fact that Norahs poorly, after a week of sneezing (i took them both to the vet who listened to them breath and said they were fine) now norahs sleeping more than usual, and although right now is popcorning around the room like a wild thing, theres a bubbly sound when she breaths. Honey seems fine, dopey as usual inbreeding

Ive got a week off work so will take her to the vet this week, ill make sure its an exotic vet this time, the last one was just a vet who had room for that morning.

But if it turns out to be a URI how much will a course of antibiotics be? not that i would not buy it if it were to expensive! its just that the OH would have to pay as i dont get paid until thursday and right this second money is tight!

It'll probably depend on the type of antibiotic and how long the course of antibiotics is for, plus of course you have to factor in the consultation fee. I would expect to pay in the region of £25 for both but it depends on how much your vets charge for the consultation really. Ours charges around £13 for the consultation but I've read of some that charge up to £35 for the consultation fee.

Like Gems says, it varies a lot. My vet only charges £5-£6 for a consultation fee and it would be the cost of meds on top of that. I wouldn't expect to pay (at my vets) more than £20 for an initial course of antibiotics and the consultation.

I agree, the medications are usually inexpensive, it is the consultation fee that bumps it up. I'd expect a minimum of £15, maximum of £30...although don't count on that when figuring out how much money to take with you! You can always ask the receptionist what the consultation fee is when you phone up to make the appointment.
