I bought some dipsticks to monitor Tizzie's urine, and I just got these results from her. I just need help determining if she should see a vet now, she has been numerous times before about this issue but they never got abnormal results on their strips, but I'm seeing blood (++80) and protein (not sure exactly where this fits as the outside colour is +++300 and the inner colour is +30) on mine. Am I reading this test wrong? (From left to right we have glucose, ketones, S.G, blood, pH, protein, nitrite and leukocytes.) Does this warrant another vet visit or are they right that she's fine?

I remember trying to look this up last time you mentioned it but not being able to find any numbers similar to what you posted. The protein numbers were something like 4.6, nowhere near 300 so the measurements are obviously different.

Could you give us the unit of measurement? My dipsticks say it next to the first picture for each different test.

I personally would take her to the vet for the blood output. My vet said a trace of blood is common when urine is forced out, but shouldn't appear otherwise.

They can also do a reading with their sticks, and you can take yours along too. They can tell you what should be normal and what it worrying.

Can you take a pic holding it against the bottle please? Then you should read it from the top down (bottom is the bit you hold()

I don't even need the bottle anymore I do this that often with my two! Definately blood and protein in there, would see a vet about a UTI X

Yesterdays dipstick had dried out so I got a fresh one today, the protein is not as strong as it was last night but the blood is still present according to this

I'd definitely get them checked out at vets. Let us know how you get on x

She squealed whilst giving me this urine sample, and there is a calcium deposit to the left you can see here, she started producing lots of these about a week ago, it felt more powdery than sand like. I'm not sure where these deposits are coming from as I've fed all my pigs low calcium diets for about 1 year now when Tizzie first started having bladder issues. Do you know if orchard grass is higher in calcium as these only started since I changed them from timothy to that? I'm concerned she has sludge or stones causing the bleeding and pain but she has had 2 bladder ultrasounds and 2 urine cultures that showed nothing abnormal both times, ugh.

The problem is with females, the blood could be coming from the uterus, no necessarily the bladder :( Unfortunately there is no way of knowing this. I had his same problem with my bladder piggy & she had early pyometra. I would change back to Timothy hay. Has she been out on the grass or had access to grass at all? I had one piggy who always showed blood in her urine after grazing. What has the vet said about the blood being present?

My vet thinks it's just 'discoloured urine' and it's nothing to worry about, but I'm not really happy with that to be honest since these tests are saying it's blood. She has had this for about 8 months and has been on and off antibiotics with no response, which is why I think the bleeding is from sludge or stones but the ultrasounds showed nothing. There is absolutely something wrong but nobody knows what. :( I would've thought with pyometra she would not be like this for 8 months, isn't that a little too long for it to be that? None of the pigs have been out on the grass at all yet or been fed any, the weather still isn't good enough for piggies, like I said I am currently feeding them orchard grass but I don't like it as it has given them all soft poops and stomach upset, plus I'm seeing calcium deposits again all of a sudden, so I'm not a fan of orchard grass sadly lol! They have a new timothy box arriving tomorrow so we'll see if the calcium deposits disappear again...

Whereabouts is the vet you see? Can you get to Sarah Pellett at Animates at all? She was brilliant with my bladder piggy :)
