Curious if you guys are interested in this:

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/baby-guineapig-watch

My guineapig, cupcake, is due next week. I'm downstairs often to watch the dogs, and I need to keep an eye on her. thought I'd share. XD

Not the best quality- but if you're interested.

(the new cage is being shipped, this one is simply temporary until I can get the new, if you read my other posts on the forum you'll see I was rather swamped with babies and didn't have enough time to get a bigger one. :) )

Cupcake: The big mama
Mookie: spotted brown and white baby
Clover: Mostly white baby

oooh dont want to sound rude, but are they on wire? if so i think i would put something on it otherwise their feet could go through and get stuck, sorry if not, its hard to tell

Didn't sound rude at all!

The top three levels of the cage are wire- the tippy top has a cardboard panel that they can stand on (or otherwise chew up) . The bottom most level is not wire, and they often go down there to play about. So far, they're feet haven't gotten stuck but I will definitely look into getting some more cardboard to place on it. As I said before, the new cage is coming soon! 8D

oh please do really, but i have to tell you, i have been watching them since you posted lol i love them so cute x

Guinea Pig's feet are very sensitive and a wire floor could cause Bumblefoot I would cover it in the meantime to stop sores. x

aww thankyou thankyou thankyou lol

is it me or are they so much more active up there now?

ok, just another thought, because the cardboard keeps moving lol what about using some fabric or a towel or something similar that may stay in place better? I am worried about the ramp too, sorry to go on about it, just dont want them to hurt themselves spesh if one is preggars :)

awwww hope its ok x

She is- for now. No sooner did you all speak than Mook ripped a toenail OFF.

Our rabbit did this once- she got it torn off in a blanket. The vet told us to put flour oni t- and to go pick up 'quick stop' from the local market. We did- thank goodness we had some left. Mookie has a bit of flour on her still from discovering that - hey , this stuff is awesome to play in! But the quick stop is on it now. The blood has stopped, and I will be checking it every few minutes or so.

Cam might go brb if i need to take her to the vet- gonna go look over recorded stuff to see if I can find what she did it on.

You guys really know what you're talking about- thank you so much. I'm just sorry I was so Naive and this happened in the first place.

And- good idea. I noticed that, too. Grah- this cage was more trouble than it was worth, haha! Looking for some fleece right now, I noticed many people placed it in their piggies cages so it should be safe. Thank goodness my grandmothers a crafter :D

i am loving watching these, the mummy just wants to lay down and the baby's are up and down like yo-yo's lol, great stuff...have to go to bed now though...boooooooo :)) thanks for sharing this i love it x)x)x)

Haha, thank you for watching it! I'm glad someone got an interest. The camera will be down later today for a bit, cleaning cages. Though I might just place them in a play pen like I have them in now- they seem to be having fun o-o

I just saw your web cam and the cage you have is not suitable at all for guinea pigs. they should never walk on wire at all and the ramps are quite high. Have you looked into getting a c & C cage? They are ideal.

Not to sound nasty, but your cage really isn't suitable for guinea pigs at all.

I would advise perhaps building a C&C cage (if you look in the housing section of the forum you can get ideas) or getting a suitable cage asap.

i think she has a new cage coming guys, i was concerned about the wire etc, but i re-read the first post, cage is being shipped. I think she is learning and just grateful for advice.

Lovely pigs eh?

Aww! Vey cute. Glad to know that you have another cage coming:) Just wondering... Can't you put something on top of the wire so they don't walk on it?!?!?

I am sorry to say this but watching that was quite frightening to me in case one of the piggies trapped a leg on a ramp :( please if you can, arrange a pen on the floor as a temporary measure until a proper cage comes, otherwise it could be a disaster waiting to happen.

Okay to address a few issues:

Yes, I do have a cage coming. The new one hasn't shipped out yet the estimated time of delivery is the 10th through the 13th.

I can't make a pen on the floor, I have two chihuahuas and they're instincts take over with smaller animals. They're fine with the bigger Guinea pigs- but not the babies. they try to 'play' and sometimes hurt them.

I know this cage isn't for guinea pigs- it was initially designed for Hamsters, and even then I didn't like using it. The piggies were a surprise on me- I wasn't expecting to get any and I had to use what I had on hand.

the C&C Cages- I have the cubes already- but I need to make a lining. (as mentioned in another post) what I thought was sealed plywood, was actually cardboard that has been ravaged by spiders and mice (Which i didn't even know we had in the basement).

I have the new cage coming, I understand that this cage is to small and I don't like putting them in it but it's seriously all I have right now. We live in a rental home- I can't simply place them on the floor and have the widdle everywhere. I take them out for floor times often placing Puppy training pads down but they burrow under them- I clean the cages out often. I'm working on getting more cardboard cutup for the wire. But, as mentioned before it's only temp.

Even with the C&C Cages- I can't use them with these guys because the upcoming babies can and WILL slip through the grids.

We still have many things boxed up (this house is smaller than our last) and we had a whole bucket full of cloth and fleece, and I'm trying to find it to fasten to the wire.

They aren't going to stay in here permanently, I promise.

Your so right about the C+C cages. I just discovered that babies slip through to my complete shock. The baby is 6 weeks as well, so I was gob-smacked. Just do what you can with fleece etc. Can't wait to see the babies drool

Little update about the cage:

They ran out of flipping stock. . .

SO I now have to order the PLUS package which is ten bucks more. I'm getting two and I have enough, but now it's going to be TWO days before I get my money back, and I'm requesting a free two day ship and handle for all the run around they gave me :/

Trying to find a temporary solution in our dark abyss we call the 'basement' of the house- hopefully we have another cage... Somewhere.
