Oreo has been not himself now for at least 2 weeks...I brought him to the vet and at first they told me he had a URI and they gave him baytril for 14 days...after a few days on baytril I noticed that Oreo was hardly eating, drinking or pooping...so I called up to the vet and she said it may be constipation from the meds and so then she prescribed him so metacam, laxatone and ranitidine and critical care. I wasn't happy with the first vet so i decided to look for a second opinion so the second vet said he seemed to be fine except she was worried because his stomach seemed to be distended so she did an X-ray and she said that it looks like it appears to be gas and we came home...I'm still giving him critical care and water by syringe and i have been giving him the ranitidine as that is good for bloat and gas and he no longer sounds like a hot water bottle...so this morning I get up and I see that he has made some very small poops...not normal ones but small poops are better then no poops..as i was mixing up his critical care Oreo began to really screech out so I kept watching him and I could see him kinda bunch up as he was screeching...I went to his cage and he had poops hanging from his bum and pee with blood on his towel...There is no emergency vet in my area so what shall i do until the morning

Please keep hand feeding him to keep the guts going. With his immune system lowered, he could be coming down with a urinary tract infection. I am sos sorry that you have one problem after another. :(

You may want to help prop his immune system up with some extra vitamin C, but a vet visit hopefully tomorrow is the best thing you can do. You may want to ask whether your vet would consider using bactrim, as your boy had a negative response to baytril.

Oh no! Poor Oreo, he does sound like he's in a bad way. Sending healing vibes and cuddles.Hope he gets better very soon.

I am sorry he is so poorly, massage therapy would be a good idea if you have a toothbrush that vibrates. I think we may have discussed that before. This would help move things through but also help disperse any gas. Good luck at the vets.

Thank for the help I am trying my best to help him and keep feeding him the most I can get him to eat is a 1ml syringe maybe 2-3 times each time... It kills me to see him so miserable

I hope that he will get better! It sounds like his guts are still very sluggish; try to feed him little but as often as you can to keep poos coming through the system. At least you can be assured that you are not dealing with a bladder stone problem, as that would have shown up on the x-ray for his gassing. It is also very important to syringe as much water as he will take on board each time to help flush out the bacteria in the urine.

Oreo was back to the vet again today and he has been perscribed another dose of baytril for what appears to be a uti... The vet did an X-ray twice but of course Oreo wanted to be difficult and wouldn't allow the vet to see his bladder lol so hopefully he comes around in the next couple of days... The good news is that he is now pooping but still feeding him critical care... Just wondering can a guinea pig get use to you feeding him and then just look for it all the time or will he come around on his own and start to eat on his own

It may be an idea to ask the vet for an ultrasound of the bladder instead if Oreo is misbehaving. Not sure if you have been down that route already though.

They can get used to being fed yes, so it is a matter of striking a balance so they have enough to keep their system going but not too much that they don't feel like they need to eat for themselves. If he is not eating at all though, syringe feeding is crucial.

I used to think they got used to being syringe fed, and then less likely to want to eat for themselves, but I really don't think this is the case now. Even the piggies that I syringe feed 100% prefer to eat for themselves if they can. A poorly piggy won't want to eat but as they start to feel better they begin to eat more and more.
