My girl fudge who’s 3 had a uti about 5 weeks ago. 7 days of baytril twice a day and metacam cleared it up fine. She started hunching whilst weeing today. Took back to the vet this evening who did an ultrasound. No sludge no stones no blood or grit, gave more baytril and metacam to bring home and I’ve got to take her back in a week. She’s Prescribed 0.65ml cat metacam once a day which last time I did 0.32 twice per day. I’ve given her 0.32 when got back from the vet but she still seems uncomfortable and is very fidgety (not hunched)in the cage. Not observed her eat or drink anything since the meds about 5pm however they were on the grass all afternoon. Should I give the remainder of the full dose and just do once a day?

The metacam dose sounds rather low, especially for short term use for an acute issue like sore squeaky pees! Cat metacam is only 0.5mg/ml whereas dog metacam is 3 times stronger, 1.5mg/ml, and many people safely give a high dose of 0.4mls of dog metacam to adult piggies weighing over 1kg... that would be 1.2mls of the cat metacam!
I would speak to the vet about increasing the dose, for a 1kg piggy a dose of 1ml of cat metacam per day is "safe" according to the only published research paper on the topic, and anecdotally many experieced vets would go higher than this if needed...
