ches is being treated for a uti but i think the doses are too low personally.

septrin 0.1ml twice a day
metacam 0.3ml twice a day

this is for a week.

speaking to my normal vets monday but wondered what people thought about these doses?

there was alot of blood from ches and he's lost 95g this week.

the vet just rang us and said she meant to put 0.3ml of septrin twice a day

Is it the adult or children's Septrin? My Patrick who weighs 864 grams gets 0.7 ml's of Septrin twice a day when he's on Septrin but hasn't been on it for sometime.

I have been advised to give 0.1 ml's twice a day of metacam if necessary in the past.

As he's a boy I would be inclined to have him Xrayed, and begin syringe feeding as 93 grams is a lot to lose in a week.

i'm not sure which septrin. i thought she said it wasn't the adult one though but may be wrong. :{ she wanted him on baytril but i said i wanted septrin.

i'll have to stick with these doses for now until i speak to my normal vet on monday. i think he would do things alot differently to be honest. i just couldn't risk waiting until monday to take ches in as there was alot of blood and a massive weight loss.

i'll have to speak to my vet monday then and see what he recommends. i think he will want to do all the necessary testing and xrays though.

why does monday feel such a long time away.

ches has just had his septrin and metacam and i managed to get 0.8ml of water into him aswell. his lips and nose look pale still. but in himself he is ok. he is eating normally aswell so that's something. i will be wetting his veg and herbs aswell to increase his fluid intake and i think before bedtime i will give him a syringe feed.

it's such a worrying time. the vet looked very concerned at the amount of blood. i'm sure she thinks it's more likely stones or a tumour or something worse than a uti. but we'll see.

i can't wait to speak to my normal vet though and see what he wants to do. it looks like we will be at the vets alot over the coming weeks/months.

I would be very concerned with 93 grams weight loss, please be aware giving him water could move the stone into his urethra so until you know what your dealing with and if a stone the size, is it passable before flushing his bladder with water?

Has there been any change in eating or drinking habits.

Does the Septrin smell of Banana's, it should say on the bottle if it's child septrin or adult?

thanks, i didn't know that about the water. i was told to keep him as hydrated as possible. ches isn't a big drinker.

ches drops alot of weight very quickly. he dropped so much before his dental aswell. we never got him back up again and now he's dropped even more. he's only 1005g now.

there has been no change in his eating or drinking. he's still running over for his food and eating normally. his general behaviour hasn't changed. he doesn't look ill and isn't acting ill, he just looks slim and his skin looks paler.

yes the septrin smells of banana. he liked it alot.

forgot to say - the bottle says adult but adult has been crossed out so it's the child one.
