Ive been going through the adoption process for Acorn (getting her a companion) and the rescue centre have commented saying the guinea pig needs to be fully vacinated, after googling it I read that guinea pig don’t need vaccines - is this true? Am I missing something? If she needs vaccines I will get her them but I thought guinea pigs didn’t need vaccines.

I've never heard of Guinea pigs needing to be vaccinated against anything. Rabbits need various vaccines, could the rescue have got confused as to what animal you were wanting, or sent a stock reply?

:agr: There are no required vaccinations for Guinea Pigs. Rabbits yes but not guibea pigs.

No vaccines needed for piggies according to the vets or the veterinary literature... just for rabbits.

I think it was a comment thrown in for everyone - it just confused me, I was worried I’d missed something. Thanks for the help

Guinea pigs don’t usually need vaccinations, although they can get them, but usually they don’t need them.

Was it a generic 'small mammal' reply/form? Usually they just use the same thing for all small mammals, some even use the same form or stuff to fill out for cats and dogs! When I was adopting my chipmunk it not only wanted to know about what vaccinations he would have, flea and worming stuff, as well as his species it also wanted to know his breed XD I was going to put down 'Striped Flufftail' but I figured that might not go down too well :lol!:

Haha yeah I bet they would love that! I think it was a basic automatic thing that goes to everyone

Its only rabbits that need vaccines because of things like mixy. Guinea are not wild in uk
