vegetables left in cage?

I give my piggies veggies each day based on the suggested plate that I learned about on TGPF. They eat it right away so right after they're done I take the plate out along with any odds or ends that they haven't eaten. Usually, they eat it all, but sometimes there's a piece or two left that I throw out because they don't want it. What concerns me is sometimes they will hide a piece somewhere and although I try to get everything I'm worried that if a piece of veg is left in there and they eat it later on will it have gone bad and make them sick? I think I'm probably worried about nothing because I'm very careful, but they are crafty little . Thoughts?

My guinea pigs usually eat everything in their plate, so I don't have this problem - I give veggies once a day. I have heard that feeding them twice a day (smaller amounts morning and night) can reduce this as they don't have as much to eat all at once, so there hopefully won't be leftovers

I scatter feed the veg for my piggies as it gives them a lot of stimulation rootling around looking for it. I have never removed any unfinished bits as there never are any. My girls get veg in the evening and by the morning it's all been eaten. The girls may not eat it all straight away but they do overnight.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I split their veg into 2 smaller portions. I think they're just picky. When given leaves of romaine they'll eat the greenest parts, but leave the crunchier whiter parts. Lately, my piggy Penny runs away from Cilantro like it's going to bite her back, lol.
