Hi everyone! I just wanted to know how many times you all feed your piggies veggies and fruits and what their favorites are. I feed mine romain, Celantro, parcely and bell pepper every day along with carrots tomatoes kale cucumber oranges apples strawberries spinach and Cellery switching those every day so they get a variety. And I feed mine once every night. I put their pellets in before bed and take them out in the morning and just leave hay in their pin all day.

I feed "Ad libitum".

It means, i put different feeding stuff like hay, grass, veggies, branches, leaves and herbs inside, and let the guinea pigs choose what they want to eat.
Their instincts works fine :)

I´m looking 2 times daily if i must refill.

min get veggies twice a day and odd bits if i handle them or have to do something they don,t like. They get lettuce or cauli leaves and peppers every time with green beans three times a week, apple twice a week . carrot once a week (high in sugar) celery parsley dill babycorn cauli florets .and orange and cucumber now and then. they have unlimited hay and pellets filled when I clean out

Mine get veg twice a day plus a little cucumber night night tidbit.

Please feed fruit and tomato only twice a week. Too much oo often can cause sores in the mouth and on the lips. Also vary between peppers, broccoli and fresh herbs; one variety per day is enough. For instance, 1-2 stalks of fresh herbs contain all the vitamin C and minerals that a piggy needs in a day. You can grow your own herbs on your windowsill.
Kale (which is a variety of cabbage) is very high in calcium and should not be fed too often; the same goes for spinach and any Asian cabbages. other cabbages like pointed/sweetheart cabbage, spring greens or savoy cabbage are not quite as high in calcium and can be fed in small quantities as part of a mix.

Guinea pigs have a naturally high alkaline urine and are more prone to urinary tract problems and bladder stones than other species. Ideally, you feed a bit of everything in moderation. What you have to aim for is a sensible and practicable balance of what your piggies will eat, what is practical and how much you can spend.

You can also feed: fresh beetroot (counters calcium) preferably without the leaves, sweet potato, chopped celery stalks, cucumber, sweetcorn (with husks) or baby sweetcorn, green beans and mange tout (the pods), fennel, chard, organic banana skins, strawberry greens and leaves.

My newest piggie loves peppers! she goes crazy for them! And when I rustle the packet she squeaks like crazy because she knows whats coming lol. She also love lettuce (romaine), cabbage, carrots, pretty much anything really, shes not fussy at all. My other guinea on the other hand is really really picky. She really doesnt eat a lot of fruit and veg, peppers and romaine is what she eats the most, but she doesn't even eat half as much as my little guinea. Ive tried so many different things with her but she just never seems interested, shes always been the same though since she was little so I always have to try and monitor how much she has to make sure shes getting enough of the stuff she needs. She eats sooo much hay though so I know shes fine :)

My two boys get their nuggets 2 or 3 times a day.

They also get 2 lots of veg daily. Small slice of pepper and 2 small pieces of carrot daily, cucumber, asparagus, chinese leaf, parsnip, broccoli, cauli, brussels, celery are all rotated. We only rescued them a week ago so still learning their quirks and likes.

Also give them plenty of hay as they will eat that over the veg sometimes.

Hi. I've just searched asparagus as I wasn't sure if it was ok to feed it to them. I've read somewhere that root veg isn't good for them and sweet corn was a no no. I grow beet root, cucumber , sweet corn, green beans, chard and strawberries out of everything you've mentioned. How much of these is safe to feed them over the summer months?

I feed mine little amounts of veggies several times during the day (I'm at uni and home most of the day) Their favourites are lettuce (not iceberg), parsley and dandelion leaves.

Mine get:

Cucumber, pepper, dill (one bit as a treat occasionally), Parsley (one bit, occasionally too), celery, peppers (green, red and yellow, one colour only each time), a green bean each and coriander. I also give my fussiest guinea pig round lettuce as she doesn't eat a lot of vegetables but seems to like that.

I read somewhere that you shouldn't give GPs Chinese leaf so I'd check your "safe" list if I were you

Mine are fed, carrots, lettuce, cucumber, celery each morning, apples and broccoli twice a week, I also feed nuggets and wagg (sorry but they love it!)
once a day and top up their hay in the morning. They then get treats when I get home from work, which is varied between, parsley, coriander, and dandelion leaves.

At night they get a cabbage leaves and more fresh hay ,

Mine get their greens and vegies twice daily. At lunchtime when I've walked home from work I bring them an armful of dandelion leaves then again when I'm preparing our dinner they hear me and 'remind' me that it's their dinner time too! I feed them celery, cucumber, romaine, baby spinach/rocket leaves (you know, the mixed leaf salads) bell pepper they love, carrot, kale, occasionally they get a bit of Apple or banana as a treat. I tend to swap each day so they get variety but they can be lil fuss pots, they will not touch cabbage, Brussel sprouts or courgettes! Makes me laugh as they're the vegetables my human kids won't touch! :oD
