Hi all, wondered if anyone knows what a line running down my guinea pig's nose might be. It looks like a bald scar but it never looked like a cut and it's becoming clearer rather than blending back into the fur. Perhaps had it a month.

The guinea pig is 1, her fur and nose are black, she's never been ill to my knowledge, kept inside in a c and c cage with 2 others in clean conditions. The only place they could catch something would be from their hay, which I buy from a farm shop.

Thanks.

Does it look like a white patch?

are you able to get a photo and upload it? I don't know about anyone else but I'm struggling to picture what you are describing

I'll try to get photo tomorrow. It looks just like a cat has scratched her nose and it's healed into a scar. But it never was scratched that I saw and it doesn't seem to be going away. Maybe she scratched her own nose. .?

fungal is not a sign of being run down its sheer bad luck that some fungal spores have managed to take hold. I would get to a vet asap as you need to make sure treatment is started as quick as possible and follow strict hygiene rules as fungal is transferable to other pets and even to humans.

Here is Wiebke's guide to dealing with Ringworm Ringworm: Hygiene And Pictures

I had an outbreak earlier this year, 3 of my 4 ended up with it and it did involve treating them all and scrubbing the hutch quite vigorously for a while but it didn't take too long to get on top of and they were all soon free of it again

Lady Kelly that must have been a nightmare to deal with. None of the ringworm photos look like my g pig but good to know what to look out for thanks. Should I take the affected pig or all 3 to the vet?

I would just take the one affected but obviously let them know that she lives with two others. If it is fungal then they may want to see the other two if they are prescribing oral medication to get the weights/dosage right. I was given an ointment to put on it but when the other two came out in it I brought imaverol dip online and treated them myself at home
