Hi everyone, after her surgery Rusty's had some very dry skin. I'm not too sure why, I peeled a bit of it off and she didn't seem to mind. It was really piling up, it was very flackey and dry. I use the shampoo I got from the petstore.
I was curious what I could do to get rid of it, I read coconut oil and I just happen to have some of it, could I use it? If not what else? Thanks!

Coconut oil does have mild fungal properties but I don't tend to use it. What shampoo did you use? It could be a mild fungal infection but this would need to be diagnosed by the vets. If so then if you can get Imaverol (Enilconazole) in Canada, this would be most effective, it can be used as a dip and topically. You could use an anti-fungal shampoo at the same time but it is not always needed.

A trip to the vets would be best to determine what is wrong with Rusty's skin. Once you know what it is you can treat it effectively. There are some pictures of various skin problems on the Gorgeous Guineas site:- http://www.gorgeousguineas.com/photogallery.html

They also do specialist lotions & shampoos which may help in the treatment once you know what the problem is.
