Yesterday i popped home from work at lunch time and thought as the weather was nice i would put my pigs in their runs for some outside time.

My newest pig, a tri colour rex called Ted, is a bit of a "jumper" ie will jump out of my arms if she gets the chance. Anyway i couldn't have been concentrating and before i knew it she was gone!

She had jumped out of my hands and had disappeared into the biggest hedge in the garden. A big dense conifer hedge.

I could see her in there but couldn't get her. I tried everything. Other pigs to tempt her out. Food to tempt her out. No joy.

I made numerous attempts to grab her to no avail. One time i got close but ended up with a handful of fur.

After fifteen minutes without luck i was frantic and wanted to cry. I was late for work but couldn't leave her as the hedge backs onto a road and she was not safe.

Luckily finally i managed to grab her and was so relieved to get her back into the run!

Ted has a bold patch on her bum where a grabbed her and the fur came out and i am covered in cuts and scratches!

But thank goodness she is safe now and i will be more careful when transfering her between runs etc.

Anyone else got any escape stories with happy endings :)

I had a similar experience with one of my girls, Edna. She hid in a low hedge between mine & next door's gardens. Fortunately my daughter came to the rescue with a bit of apple but it still took about half an hour to recapture her. I think my neighbour, an elderly gentleman, thought we were complete nutters crawling either side of the hedge up and down the gardens on all fours :D
I only ever take her outside in a pigloo now!

Glad Ted is back safely! Radley has escaped from a C&C but only in the living room he jumped 1 ft! I wouldn't chance it with him in the garden he woudl be away! Little rascal! ;D
