so I'll start with the question then explain...
Can Guinea pigs have the hiccups or smthn similar?

I was changing fleece today and used 2 separate peices for the first time with my new rescue Lily, Zuli her cage mate knew the drill but Lily seemed confused as I had been taking them out and changing the entire thing before but when I do half the cage at a time I can leave them in.
She seems nervous about going to the clean half so I lifted her lil bum and scooted her over and changed the second side of the cage, as I was working out the middle part I noticed she was breathing odd almost like she had hiccups. She was still walking around fine and even eating but she had these little hiccup breaths. I watched for a few moments trying to figure out if it could be some sort of seizure and then went to get my phone to take a video and when I got back it had stopped. She's acting totally fine now and her breathing is normal, I'm not sure if she was somehow panicked from me changing her cage and that changed her breathing or if piggies can get hiccups? Not sure where to go from here..

Yes they can get heaving hiccups. Was she jerking as she did it?

Sounds like heaving hiccups to me to - very scary the first time you see a pig do it - a few of mine have done it and some never have.

Oh thank god they can get hiccups then I was trying to figure out how to convince the vet to do a ct or smthn in case it was a seizure- no it was certainly hiccups then. I am so relieved!
None of my pigs have ever done it this poor thing must have had a rough life if changing the fleece stresses her into hiccups, hopefully she'll get used to it.
