When piggies are poorly, is it normal for them to feel much thinner? Although Connie is eating the same as normal, she feels really thin and boney but has only lost 50g (she has gone from 800g to 750g) which she has done before whilst poorly. She doesn't have diarrhea and is having pro biotics. She has always been a small pig.

Illnesses tend to affect smaller pigs much more noticeably than chunkier pigs. If a 3lb pig was ill and lost a bit of weight, you wouldn't notice much difference in the feel of the body unless it was severe weight loss. The weight loss need not be severe for naturally petite pigs to feel much thinner - a 2lb pig doesn't have much body fat or strong muscle tone to lose. Loss of muscle tone - perhaps as a result from less exercise (in cases where lethargy is a symptom) may also be a factor. Are you weighing Connie daily?

I found once our piggie got thinner the weight loss of even 10g was enough for the ribs to show up :(
Feed lots of fav foods and even introduce some new interesting tastes that just might perk her up again xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>
Have you thought about maybe doing some CC feeds to boost for a few days to perhaps get her up and munching again?
All the best sweetie, i'll be thinking of you both xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
