*sigh* I give up with Miss Jemima, she hasn't settled since Daisy was introduced and I now think her increased boisterous behaviour is not to do with bonding and the potential that there is something underlying. Daisy has consistently had a barbered patch on her back and I found a bite/scratch and then I found that Isobel has a matching one (and Jemima is now fairly well bonded with Issy). Jemima's weight has always been unreliable and prone to fluctuations anywhere betwen 720g and 890g. Now she weighs 674g :(

I've only ever had to go to the vets with her once in the past 5 years of having her for a stubborn UTI that took two lots of antibiotics to clear up.

My fear is ovarian cysts but she hasn't become more rounded in the abdomen. Apart from the weight loss and the aggression I can't say she has any other symptoms. The only appointment left was 8am in the morning and it takes 20-30 mins depending on traffic so an early start tomorrow!

I hope you get some answers.Good luck for tomorrow x

Good luck at the vets tomorrow.

When Tilly had cysts, she had none of the classic symptoms. The first sign was a reluctance to eat.

I've had two with ovarian cysts before. Bea lost a little weight (found out it was down to renal disease) and the only thing she did as a result of the cysts was barber her own tummy. Bumble just started sitting in her own wee but I still to this day can't guarantee that this was the cysts or whether it was from the start of her arthritis. I just hope we get some answers, it always worried me that my little midget would get ill as she doesn't have the weight to lose

They are such a terrible worry, so easy to look after when they are well but so hard when they are ill :(

Ovarian cysts often don't show the full panoply of symptoms. I hope that your vet can get to the bottom of it. At least there are now much less invasive alternatives to spaying.

All the best for your appointment tomorrow - despite the very early start!

Well I got there and to be honest I think I was more nervous driving on my own than going to the vets. Jemima is looking well and weighs more on their scales than on mine. The verdict is that it's likely to be stress which could be exacerbated by Peter being ill so I have decided for the meantime that I will separate the hutch back into two separate piggy flats with Jemima and Peter in one and Daisy and Isobel in the other. This will then allow me to monitor Jemima's weight, food and water intake better and see if it helps her recover. If she still stays the same low weight or loses more then it would be a urine sample to test for glucose and ultrasounds for cysts though the vet can't feel any at the moment.
