i always use harringtons optimum pellets for my pigs and never have any waste but when i looked at vetuk to place my order for it i noticed that they have started selling their own food too: PetUK Guinea Pig Food 10kg - £10.58 each for 2 or more, or £13.24 for one. i've looked at the ingredients and they seem to be the same so i ordered this instead. so far, it is going down well. in fact it looks exactly the same as the harringtons and the pigs seem to think it's their normal food too. works out cheaper than the harringtons so i'm happy

I love Vetuk :) Our piggies love the Harringtons Optimum and have Burgess Excel too (I worry if I can't get the Optimum so have a back up supply).
Hmmm, think I'll try this and if they don't like it, can always pop it over to your piggies...:) x

It's really good that they are doing their own brand food. However, looking at the ingredients it would not be a good food for any pigs with a history of bladder stones or Interstitial cystitis due to the sunflower extract, Lucerne (Alfalfa), grape and apple. I would also be interested to know the protein, calcium and phosphorous ratios which they don't display on their website. I am currently feeding my pigs a low protein food due to having Interstitial cystitis amongst them and a history of candida problems so this food would not be suitable. Sorry to be a party pooper.

Funnily enough I emailed vetuk the day before yesterday about this food and asked them what the calcium content of the food is as I have bladder pig and kigney stone pig - they gave me the exact contents for everything else ,but just put down 8 for calcium - what ? 8 mg? 8 gms ? 8 bullfrogs per kilo ? so asked them again and they still haven't replied - could you have a look on the ingredients for me and let me know please? Burgess is 8g per kilo (wayyy too high) wagg pellets about 2.5 which mine all love - wagg crunch about 1.5 (but they waste most of it ) and the vetuk multimodal for bladder pigs is only 0.85 and looks like stetched out shredded whear - but they don't really enjoy it ,so have ordered oxbow cavy cusine at £13.99 for about 2.5 kilos when I really need a cheaper low calcium option.
