Hi!
So today, I got my two piggies out for their free time in their run/playpen thing and so I could give their cage a clean out.
Got them out one at a time because they are still abit scared and wary of us but theyre generally getting less scared and take food out of our hands and are always wheeking for more when we walk by them.
I think they know I bring their veggies😀

Anyway; while holding them both today they started to vibrate. Hagrid our most scared vibrated almost the entire 10 minutes and stayed very still. I'm assuming it's because he's scared?
Whereas Draco was fine being stroked and vibrated a couple of times but was wheeking/squeezing too a little bit and being nosey at what's around him.
Is the vibrating a sign they're scared? Or does it mean something else when they talk too?X

You have an untapped resource here FleurElizabethA! Most people think piggies are just pets but they can be so much more. Why not try strapping one too a toothbrush for an extra funky minty journey... WALLAH and it saves on the batteries :yahoo:.

Goodbye.

Sorry about the troll, they are gone now...

Depends, shaking is a sign of fear. But if when our girls were new on lap chickpea would shake so gently vibrate as I touched her, so got her used to us in a cosy.
If they are vibrating and making a grrrr noise again that is displeasure or annoyance. If you ring a bell they will normally grrrr as they don’t like that kind of sound

I’m so sorry your thread got trolled.
As for the vibrating, as Lee has said, it does have to be taken in context of what they are doing.Vibrating without a sound I usually interpret as a bit of fear or anxiety. Vibrating with certain noises I tend to consider as a bit of a complaining behaviour. Like if my mobile beeps while I am cuddling my piggies - it startles them and they tell me off.

Thanks for the info everyone!
Definitely helped, still getting used to what all their noises mean☺️

Draco tried nibbling my finger in the cage last night too, just a gentle nibble but it's the first time it happened so I pulled my finger away... Not sure if he was seeing if I was food or exploring me a bit more😂Xx

Awwww piggy kisses. You are honoured.

Some piggies lick, some just nibble - just like they do when grooming themselves or their companions. I must admit, though, the first time you feel hot breath on bare skin and you realise the size of those teeth, it takes every bit of willpower not to yank your hand away! In fact in Evie’s case if I ever feel her warm breath I do know what’s coming and pull my hand away :lol!:

I used to keep an African Grey parrot. Imagine the power in a beak that can crush a walnut in its shell. Then imagine the nerves of steel you need when you realise they are putting that same beak round your finger....

I remember Buttons‘ first „piggy kiss“ well.. I thought she was giving me a kiss, she thought my finger was food. She tried to grab „the food“ and run away with it. We can all imagine how that ended 😂 But yes, she now gives great piggy kisses and my finger has healed.
