hey y'all!

So the other day I ran out of vitamin c tablets for my piggys and I made a dash to the local pet store only to find that they were OUT of them (it was crazy because they usually have a whole shelf) and all they had was vitamin c drops which mine have never had....but I bought them. I put the recommended amount in their water and I waited to see how they'd react....they drank normally as usual until I realized they REALLY like drinking the water now. I think they enjoy the taste of the vita c ALOT lol they've been drinking like crazy. Anyway, I got a notification that the vitamin c tablets have come in but now I don't wanna even buy them because they really love their water and weren't even that crazy about the tablets.
I've done some research but I was wondering what is better-drops or tablets?
I change the water everyday, which means new drops of course. I also sprinkle some on their food and they love that too...gosh I wish I discovered this sooner!

We’re tgey recommended by a vet or where you got your pigs from? They shouldn’t need a supplement as long as they’re eating their veg (bell peppers and coriander), and also their pellets.

But if you really want to give it, I’m not sure which is better.

yeah they do get the veggies and pellets but I was always told that they also need supplements to get anough vita c.
My first pig was a rescue (abandoned on my porch by some breeder) and then my second pig was from a pet store.

The vitamin c in the veg and pellets should be enough to cover them. Too much isn’t a good thing I’d have thought.

It is generally nolt reccomend adding anything to your guinea pigs water (exacpt in special circumstances).
Anything that affects how much they drink is not good for them (whether it makes them drink more or less).
Plus adding supplements to the water bottle can cause bacteria to grow more quickly which could inadvertently cause illness.

If your guinea pigs eat a balanced diet of hay, a small amount of pellets, and some fresh veg every day then Vitamin C supplements are unnecessary.
They are good to have on hand to use during illness or times of stress, but other than that they don't need them.

I use the tablets to supplement mine bc you can control better how much they are getting. I only do this bc I have problem piggies who need some extra help, one of whom is very veggie/fruit picky! If they will eat the bell pepper and pellets you should be ok without supplement unless they are ill and need extra, from what I know.

Yes I only started getting the supplements when they disliked bell peppers at some point because I thought they weren't getting enough.
It is probably good I don't give them the vita drops ALL the time but I don't mind it and I clean the water bottle out everyday so bacteria will ever live in that thing lol ;) Thanks for everyone's opinions though

Did you try all colours of bell pepper? Sometimes it’s a case of persistence. Picky so and so’s 🙄
