I think I must have jinxed MagPie yesterday by saying I couldn't wait for her babies to arrive!

She has had.......wait for it..........4 :o bouncing little bundles of joy!

As far as I can tell the all have crests and they are all different. Thankfully no obvious Leathals, but as lots of people said it would be highly unlikely for her to have them because she doesn't look like a pure Roan.
We have:
1x black with a bit of a white crest & a front ginger leg
1x chocolate crested I think who might have dark ruby eyes - its too dark to tell without taking it out
1x mid silver agouti crested
1x white with buff/cream patches & a crest who instantly reminded me of an old rescue I had called Licky who Abnoba took on & renamed Pebbles.

I have already picked up this last baby because she seemed to have an 'extra bit' near her back foot. On closer inspection it looks like she developed a 4th toe which does have a nail but I think no bone structure attatching it to the foot or leg because its just dangling. Any suggestions on what I do about this as I don't want it to get caught.....

Extra toes are often seen in closely bred pigs. I think each case should be treated individually but this one sounds like it should just be left, I've left extra toes and they've been OK.

Sorry to go on about Roans/Dals but, a Roan/Dal doesn't have to look like one to be one ie doesn't have to be up to standard. It was unlikely because both parents would had to have been purebreds. :)

They sound lovely, can't wait for pigtures. Hows Mum?

Its a genetic mine field out there isn't it!

Mum seems a bit like a bunny in the head lights - luckily I had a big bunch of her fav parsley in & as soon as I called her & she smelt it she ran like a greyhound to get some!
So her appetite is fine. I'm just concerned about her feeding so many. I'll keep a close eye on her. When I feel she's settled & ok I'll try & get pics.

Hx

Aww bless her, sending congrats to mum :) As for the other toe, if it's not going to causing harm then leave it, but if it's dangling and as you say likely to get caught maybe you need a chat with the vet about removing it when she's older.

Looking forward to baby pigtures :D

Awwww for of them! Mummy's going to be kept busy then! Wow thats fab news. ;D :o Extra toe, freaky!

The most I've had a sow raise was 5 and that was a back to back litter because she was in with Dad ::) I always put wholemeal bread and milk in for mine (however many they have). Just be careful no one gets diarrohea, but if the babes don't eat it Mum probably will (and the babes will sit in it :)

Just a quick snap of them - the brick is in there so Maggie could stand on it & see Pudding the other sow that came with her. Pudding also has a brick & has spent alot of time this morning looking at her Niece & Nephews!
The one I thought looked like it could be a silver agouti isn't but looksscarily like the baby Sars got from the same place Bluebelle.

Awwwww wow. Where do you live again? Might have to steal 1 if not all of them! If Sars doesn't get there first. ;D

Nottingham!
Give me a couple of days & I will know whats what. I do have room for all of them but if there are people who 'need' another eg after the loss of one of a pair I may (she says gulping) let one or 2 go to very special homes.

I've just been watching them & it looks like all but the Chocolate one has these extra toes :o

I did want to call my 'herd' Coven Cavies & they say that the cats you get with the extra toes are withches cats - the extra toe helping them grip onto the broom stick.
They obviously were meant to be!

whoa :o :o

awww more babeeeeeeeeees how wonderful I would'nt worry about her coping with 5 a few of mine have had 5 babies over the years and coped brillaintly, I'm still waiting for marley to produce her 1st litter shes looking chilled out just eating and staring ito space obvioulsy resting until its her time,

They are sooooo cute

Both my boys have extra toes and they have never given them any probs :)

They are so cute! Unless the toes are causing problems I would just leave them (unless they really do use them for broom flying..) It may just be because a family member was the Daddy or something, but it's good that there aren't any lethals. Well, at least I wouldn't think there are. Lethals normally are blind (which you would have noticed), have no teeth (which you would have noticed), etc. Also, since their coloring is so different than Magpie's and looks nothing like a roan or dal, that means that they're not pure roan/dal so that makes me think there's no lethals as well. Congrats!

I have had a couple of friends over today & they've said they would have 2 boys - if there are 2 boys from this litter. I will be more than happy for a pair to go to them as they spend silly money on their cats & I am sure if any piggies go there they will have the same treatment.

Aww! Congrats on the babies! Its so hard to wait for the big day hey! I am groing impatient too lol and she still has a way to go! I am only allowed to keep one girl out of cindy's litter so unfortunatly i cant keep them all :( But i am going to make extra sure they go to GOOD homes only lol! Congrats again!

My daughter Eve declared as soon as she saw them that the white & buff one was going to be hers & its name is Elizabeth!

Its the first time she has gone gooey over any guinea pig other than Margalo who is still by far a firm favourite. She wasn't even swayed by Puddings babies - unlike me!

I am hoping & praying that Elizabeth is a girl - if not Elizabeth with have to have a girls name & no pompoms!

Awwww......mini pigs.... gone all broody now. :)

Glad they arrived all safe and sound. The are just adorable. Me wants, me wants! ;D.

Good thing I dont live that close Hils or would be round for some serious pig napping. :)
