Doeylicious
Adult Guinea Pig
Well after 12 hours straight on the move, I now have my Snickers home and her three new friends, courtesy of Claire at All About The Animals.
The day started at 6.30am, after having only about 3 hours sleep as I was too excited! However a mis read and new station layout meant we missed out very first train by literally 30 seconds...and this basically set the tone of the day!
Managed to get to Euston but missed our planned train by 3 minutes as the Northern Line was shut and Victoria Line had a part closure. So got the next train to Birmingham but missed our connecting train by again 3 minutes...ARGH!
We then had 2 hours to kill til the next one, so had a wander round the Birmingham Bullring, WOAH what a lot of nice shops! hehe!
So finally on a train to Newtown, but ARGH this one was delayed by 20 mins once we were on it as a signal had a failure somewhere and then some unhelpful person decided to try to throw themselves off a viaduct somewhere higher up the line...the last we heard he was being talked down though thank goodness.
So sadly I didn't get to actually go to Claire's as we only had 20 mins til our train home was due, so we did a very hurried piggy hand over from her car!
Back on the train, which then again was delayed (same reasons as before) but thankfully got to Brum before our train to Euston was due. This was almost empty so the pigs got a nice seat in the luggage rack and were able to have some cuddles and such, a family visiting from India had never seen guinea pigs before so we gave them an education lol.
Then the hardest part came...negotiating London Underground...if anyone really likes their personal space on the tube, I strongly advise taking an animal carrier around with you, a lot of people will tut and give you a VERY wide berth :red rolleyes pigs weren't too keen on the tube but lots of veggies and covering the carrier helped. Then the last train back to Mum's house, and we were done!
We got back literally 12 hours after we walked out the door, settled the guineas in a ballpit for the night (they will move down to mine tomorrow) and collapsed with huge mugs of tea. They are settling in ok but a little nervous, I am sure they will be better once we get home tomorrow to their new enormous hutch and they have some more cuddles. I can already see the herd dynamic being worked out, Dibby is proving an excellent boar and sorting out any girly spats as well as looking gorgeous, Leti and Snicks seem very well paired, and Nancy is just YUMMMY and floofy, so nosy and friendly, I can't wait to get to know them all and get to know Snicks again.
A truly epic journey, we have travelled over 400 miles today all in, and inhaled a lot of manky air conditioned train air lol. Pics will follow tomorrow
