walking with bum in the air

Hi, its been a while and I thought I knew almost everything but I am stumped! Noticed Darcy was walking with her bottom high in the air. Had a closer look, checked her feet first they are fine. Then noticed her vulva was quite swollen and discoloured. She was squirming a lot so unsure if she's dirty or its her skin. She doesn't seem to be in pain but she had been a bit quiet and lost a bit of weight. I hadn't worried too much about the weight or her being quiet because she's quite old now so I thought it was just a natural decline and she's not showing any signs of pain. Any ideas? I'm thinking cystitis maybe? Any ideas?

No idea sorry. But sounds like she IS in pain and trying to avoid her swollen vulva dragging on the floor and incurring more pain. If she were mine she'd be going to the vet this minute.

She definitely seems like she's uncomfortable. Could be some kind of infection. Definitely get her seen asap. Good luck xx.

How'd you get on with vets? What bedding are you on?

My butter once had some hey stuck up her and it was barely visible, but I noticed it, had her stick her bum over the edge of a table, tweezers, torch in my mouth and wellah. She knew what I was doing and was happy for me to do it as she was clearly uncomfortable.
With discolouration though, that can't sound good but I'm no vet or nurse.

My Nibbles, sort of bunny-hops along, with his bum slightly in the air and he has been diagnosed as arthritic. Though I really have no idea with regards to girls because I have only really had boys. Defintely get it checked out at your vets though. Better safe than sorry.

I took Darcy to the vet. She didn't come home. Vet said nothing specifically wrong with her just general old age. Said antibiotics might perk her up but i'd just be putting off the inevitable and it would be kinder to just let her go. Heart broken but I knew from past experience the vet was right. Darcy was a lovely sweet piggy who had a bad start in life. She was being given away by a breeder at 4 yrs old as she was too old to breed from. I had her for 2 yrs and spoilt her rotten. I will miss her a lot.
