It's so complicated!

Rocky is on metacam once a day (morning), zithromax twice a day.
Riffy is on metacam once a day (evening), septrin once a day, cystaid once a day, and cranberry juice.
Both have water syringed in.
Rocky had the abscess flushed 2-3 times a day.

I have made up drug charts I can tick and initial when it's all been done. Anyone else do this?

Also, a good tip from one of the anaesthetists: don't draw drugs for ten minutes after you've woken up. I never do.

Get Well Wishes to Rocky & Riffy Lucinda x) You do have a busy round, great idea to do a chart :)

It does feel rather like you're a nurse rather than a piggie mum when they go downhill! I hope both pick up very soon.

Funnily enough I'm about to put my guinea pig weight and medical chart designs for sale.

The charts are a really good idea Lucinda...when I had 3 of mine poorly all at once, I did the same otherwise it can easily get confusing :{
We nearly had a terrible mistake last year, thats why I do that now. I asked David to draw uo 0.4 mls baytril and he drew up metacam instead :o That could have been fatal, luckily I checked as I thought it looked a thicker consistency than baytril. Always double check!

Vibes to your poorly little ones x x x

When mine get sick I have two charts: daily weight charts, charts for the amount of food I can syringe into them, charts to tick daily when I give them their medication. Makes it easier when I have to go back to the vet and report on what I've done and how they've been doing.

That's what I am afraid of and why I wait till I am properly awake.

Once I was going to combine two bottles of baytril and I combined baytril and metacam. Because the bottles were brown it was hard to see the thickness.

It's so time consuming when you have one ill, let alone more - when Marty was away on business a couple of years back Pepe and Dylan decided to both get the runs at the same time, which lasted for the whole week he was away! There was the Baytril, Dioralyte, and pro-biotic to administer to each pig X-amount of times per pig per day, not to mention the constant worry, constant cleaning them up after they had run through it and got it all over themselves and associated laundry etc, etc.. very stressful! Lucinda, you have my sympathy!

I always read aloud the contents of the bottle I am about to use and also repeat the name and dose of the drug just before injecting it or giving it by mouth, whichever is appropriate.

Very good idea ... record what you give when and to whom.

Hope all goes well!
