I bought a grass ball from P@H for my guineas to chew on and it had a metal frame underneath the grass which I only noticed once it was all chewed. Well this morning I saw there was one of our 1.2kg boars trapped inside it! He had managed to get his entire head inside it and my hubby had to get his super industrial strength wire cutters to cut it off, peice by peice.

Thankfully Bournville is ok and just a little shaken up, he could have been like that for hours, the poor thing :(

thats awful! thank god bourneville is ok..... you should write to pah and let them know what has happened to stop it happening to other piggies xx

I had something similar happen. I bought a willow ring to chew on, and it wasn't long before I noticed scratches on my piggies. Turns out there were two metal wires holding it together on the inside, and they were jagged like barbed wire.

I have heard about this before it seems to be the grass housing things that has the metal bars...

I just wouldn't buy anything like that from P & H to be on the safe side!

Other forums have warnings about these balls with pictures of piggies trapped inside them. God knows why they sell them, they have had so many people complaining - makes zero difference, grr!

omg, i can't believe this, i feel a bit shaken from reading this to be honest. i was thinking about buying my food and such from p@h online when we move, i wont be now. though i'll have to get a supply of food from there as bodie and doyal are on p@h nuggets until i move them over. omg, that's horrible for your piggie and you to go through, plus it must've scared the other piggies to bits and i can imagine what could've happened with the wire cutters... :...:...:...:...:...:...:...:...
