Hello, I am currently using Kaytee water bottles for my pigs. However, one of them has started yanking the metal part that they drink from, apart from the bottle itself. This causes water to spill everywhere and she's doing it more constantly. If she were to do this at night when I can't immediately put it back in, it could be a problem as the metal part gets left in the cage. Are there better water bottles to use that don't have the metal part that can easily be detached by a pig?

Worse case scenario I'll just buy more water bottles 🤦
Picture of the exact water bottle I use.

I feel your pain.
Our piggy Oreo was the master of draining water bottles.
She would happily pull the spout off of most, and of course over time the spout got looser and this became easier.
When we got a different style she would stand underneath and press the button in as the water drained out - she was an absolute horror and obsessed with water bottle destruction.
Plus she lived with multiple other piggies so I worried about them not having water available.

We ended up doing several things.
Firstly I put a heavy ceramic bowl under a bottle to make it harder for her to access the spout easily, plus it would catch a lot of the excess water so they would always have a drink available.

I also got several of theses style of bottles:

I hope that helps.

I have 4 of these for my herds cage

How does this bottle work? Is there always water in the metal spout part?

Yes, there is always water in the metal dish part.
What i would say is that this can get mucky quickly so definitely needs changing daily, but other than that we found it to be a great bottle and all the piggies used it without any problems.

I second the Lixit brand as a good water bottle for guinea pigs. They are really tough! My child has knocked the water bottle off the piggies' cage a few times and the glass bottle fell down onto the tile floor. The bottle has not broken or cracked. My foster piggies tug on the spout and it doesn't seem to drip at all.

Thank you. My boys need a different bottle as they just seem to enjoy emptying it (and drinking too of course).
