I'm sick to my back teeth of leaky bottles! I have four different types attached to my boys' cage, and each one of them leaks like crazy. Even so-called leak proof bottles leak, and I'm fed up of cleaning up the mess it inevitably makes.

Not only that, but when he's sleepy my older (lazier) boar Dale likes to sip from them while they drip (he's very spoilt and it he doesn't absolutely have to make an effort, he won't), which obviously makes him wet. Every single time I see a wet cheek/wet chin, my heart stops and I fear he's got the slobbers. Which is silly, as he had regular check ups on his molars and they're always fine (I'm just an overly paranoid pig mum).

My Syrian and Chinese hamsters actually prefer to drink from bowls, so at least that's more efficient, but none of my pigs have ever been interested in following suit.

Some days I think I'd genuinely sell my soul for a truly leak proof water bottle.

Do you filter the water? It could be limescale making the bearing not seat properly, causing a slight leak

I find if you fill the bottle full, and gently turn the bottle up and down to create a vacuum it helps to stop leakage.maybe try a new bottle. :)

I’ve had this problem A LOT and it drived me crazy. I went and brought new bottles but within a week the same thing was happening so I looked it up and I found a solution (it’s helped me a number of times).

Empty the water bottle and put some warm water in (not too much) and Violently shake the bottle for a couple of minutes. Empty, fill with drinking water and it should have stopped leaking.

If that doesn’t work, try again. I think I had to do it twice the first time.

Hope this helps!

I learned it from saskia in la guinea pig rescue that if u have plastic bottles u can fill it With water and then squeeze it and do the bottle upside down and hang it. Because of the pressure and vacuum created with squeezing the water won't leak
