Yesterday cousin Amelia's water bottle leaked until it was nearly empty I thought it was a one off but today I found Edward and Mrs Simpsons had done the same. They are plastic has anyone else had this happen and what can I do to prevent it I don't want them to get wet while I am at work

Buy new bottles! Hah x
I have plastic ones too. Are they the crystal deluxe ones?
I find that pet stores like pets at home and local ones sell things extremely expensive so I bought a large blue bottle from wilkos and it doesn't leak plus it was only £1.50 and to for a large! Pets at home sell theirs for £3.50 x I haven't heard gr8 things about glass ones plus if u drop them they will probably smash x I would just buy new ones x until u do out extra bedding in the cage so it will absorb the water. I hate leaky bottles x

i use the sippy bottles from amazon.uk there a little dearer but iv never had any leaking with them they are worth there money there £5 for the large ones

Nicky, try filling the bottle then inverting it so the spout is upwards, then squeeze it so some water comes out of the spout. This creates a vacuum so that when you turn bottle back it doesn't leak. I think cousin Amelia is a 'messy drinker' a lot of the water she empties out ends up in the cage, not in her mouth!

We have got a few like that and they are all in the one group, I was disappointed with my Living world bottles until tonight when I realised it was only their cage that was wet and they do spit it out.

Hi Nicky I would follow what pig in the city has said. I do this every time I change the bottles (so every day) and it helps the bottles to stop leaking. It creates a vacuum. So hold the bottle over the sink and keep the spout facing down and give it a shake so the water spits out a bit. Hope this helps you Hun x

I use the glass ones and fill them right up to the top. When turned upside down this also creates the vacuum needed. Haven't had the misfortune of dropping one yet !

Thank you will do this x

I've got a couple of small stones on the bottom of the cage under the bottle to catch drips and the piggies have to stand on them to reach the bottle which helps with their nails :)

i bought a living world glass water bottle it looked very nice good spring attachter thingy it even has a carrot to see the water level and two balls but it let all of the water out a bought a cheaper one from a garden cenre which is perfect! has never leaked xx
