I was just wondering how people keep their water bottles clean? Mine start off nice and then turn a bit green over time. I end up binning them and buying a new one every few months ::)

Must admit mine are ok. I only use warm water shhake them up and empty and it works for us. I did use boiling water and melted one!...lol Well I was only trying to be hygenic...lol :D

Mine never go green, I just give them a wash and a good rinse out a couple of times a week. Do you use vitamin drops or something? Cant see why it would go green :-\

I have never had anything grean grow on my bottles, I just use a bottle brush one of my little OCD's

They will go green if they are in direct sunlight as this makes algae (sp) grow :-\

If you put some rice grains in then ans a bit of watter, give them a good shake and they should be as good as new! :)

oooh that sounds good :)
I just use all different sizes of baby bottle brushes O0

Soaking in the bath for me, you can use milton to sterelise them apparently but make sure if you do that you rinse thoroughly.

mine have lasted well too. bob and munchies bottle they have had about 6 months and its fine. i bought a double ended bottle cleaning brush from P@H. i rinse the bottles out every day and clean them with the brush regularly

I wash mine everyday with s tiny bit of washing up liquid and rinse so there is no trace of it then refill with filtered water. Never had a bottle go green the spouts I clean with a cotton bud ;)

We use baby bottle brush in the main bit and cotton buds in the tip. Tried rice once but it all stuck to the bottles and took awhile to get it all out.

My Soph and Goo (Rest in peace) used to have age build up really quick in their bottles so I would Put some Clean stones in their bottles and Shake it for about five mins then clean them with hot water. :D

If pigs are outside I find their bottles go greener quicker.
Pets at home sell a brush for cleaning bottles, which I use to clean them.
old toothbrush sounds like a good idea too. :)

If you put half a sheet of kitchen towel and about an inch of water, give a good shake (with your thumb in the hole) the green all comes off. The tricky part is getting the wet piece of kitchen towel out of the bottle afterwards. I use a pointed wooden skewer to hook it out!

Hmmmm....I wonder if the green is like algae in a fish tank. If my tank gets direct sunlight it will get a little green. Could you try draping a towel over the bottle to see if it stops? I think some water may cause discolaration. We have well water and things get a coating of the minerals in the water. Not harmful but looks yucky. You may consider having your water tested. Here in the states we have to have tests for home purchase and I have a licensed childcare so we get tested yearly. We had terrible water and now have a filtration system.

That what i do, and it works a treat, although it is only the water bottles that are in the sun that need this to be done, about twice a month
