Hi,

Taking delivery of a some new hutches tomorrow I’ve had specially made and I want to preserve the floor from wee and to put down some waterproofing material to put their shavings on top of. One of my piggies in particular is terrible for trying to eat anything in sight (bags, puppy pads, towels, labels off beds to name a few) so it has to be something she can’t eat (thin plastic sheeting etc not an option) I reckon she’d get through Lino too even 😩😩

I thought about kind of Perspex panels but I am not sure how I’d get them into and out of the hutch as the roof doesn’t come off. I guess could be chopped into smaller pieces that will go in though the doors.

Just wondering if anyone on here has any bright ideas and what you use, especially if you don’t have lift up lids on the hutches.

Thanks!

I use correx.

I think whatever you use you will need an upstand up the sides because if you just have something on the floor, urine is still going to seep between the floor and walls.

So you could use scored Correx or folded lino (so there is no join in the flooring between the floor and wall for urine to seep) but make the side upstand much higher than she can reach.

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll see what our local DIY shop has tomorrow! You have to be cunning to deter Betty from eating something 🤣

New hutch arrived and lined with correx boards and she’s not interested in them at all which is good news. Didn’t realise they’re like the bottom of a C&C cage and she’s not interested in eating that in her indoor cage either! They’re absolutely loving the new hutch 😍
