Hi all! We recently got a rescue piggy Mabel as a friend for Poppy our 4yr old piggy who lost her sister.
Since we got Mabel I've thought her eyes looked more watery (though not actually watering) than Poppy's, but there hasn't been any discharge or reason for concern. They just look slightly more glazed but not in an abnormal way. However the past week or so, one of Poppy's eyes looks more watery, but not actually watering. (It sort of looks like she might be about to cry but isn't crying yet... if that makes sense. In human terms I mean)
It is only a very slight difference to her other eye. Do guineas get infections in their eyes? I thought Mabel's eyes may have been just naturally like that, (she does spook quite easily and seems to open her eyes really wide a lot) however Poppy's left eye is making me think otherwise!
They were both checked out thoroughly at the vet just after we got Mabel, which was around a couple of months ago now & nothing was mentioned.

Any advice much appreciated (I looked on the guinea lynx eye info but I didn't see anything I thought looked like this or sounded like the same thing)

Thanks

Saz

There may a small irritant trapped in her eye or she may have a non-ulcerating poke. Please have it checked by a vet if in any doubt. For eye cleaning, piggies produce a milky fluid.

But, are they both likely to have something in their eye? I just thought it was odd that I noticed Mabel's eyes first and then one of Poppy's now looks similar. It looks completely normal, but wetter than usual.

I will try to take a photo but its only slightly noticeable. It almost looks as if she is welling up about to cry, if piggies could cry that is. I'm not sure that someone who hasn't seen her eye before would notice it - I am just slightly paranoid about it because I recall saying to my OH when we first got Mabel that her eyes looked slightly more watery than Poppy's (but not actually watering), but now one of Poppy's seems to look a bit like that too. They both have pink eyes, as you may be able to see from my avatar.

I know one of my lads is quite sensitive to dust etc and get watery eyes then as well as on the grass. Have you changed bedding/hay brand or anything similar that may be irritating them?

A picture would help but sometimes you just get a watery pig... My Donald just always had watery eyes and a damp nose, he was fine and healthy just a bit damp! He did have hayfever though and sneezed like mad on grass so look out for environmental irritants.

I have a pic but I don't think I can upload it from my phone. Poppy's eye has never been like this in 4yrs, until we got Mabel a couple of months ago. Whose eyes I immediately thought looked more watery. Can piggies get conjunctivitis?

This is her left eye. She is a pink eyed white. It looks watery in the corner and she has a very slight crusty looking bit on the skin on the corner.

Edit: I dont think my pic is working but I don't know why. I uploaded it to photobucket and it should be visible :(
