Yesterday we received a new addition, a little sow who is said to be between 2 and 4 months of age. She is very sweet and curious and my son fell in love with her immediately! She is in her own cage at the moment as we wanted to give her some time to adjust and quaranteen her from Spooky in case of ringworm or other ailments she might have. She is in the same room as Spooky but not side by side.
With in 20 minutes of having her home, Spooky started squeaking and popcorning in her cage, she seemed very interested.
The little one spent most of her time in her hideaway, but has finished all her hay and is drinking well. she does not seem to know what veggies are so we are slowly introducing her to those. Today she is much more active and sat happily munching on her hay as my son read to her ☺️
We plan on giving her the week to settle and get used to us before introducing her to Spooky in the neutral zone. Until then, should I keep them at seperate areas of the room or place their cages side by side? I was planning to keep them insight but not in direct contact incase she does carry something from where she came from. I want to make sure all goes well and they have a good bonding experience as I have until the end of January to le tthem know if I need to give her back.
We do not have a name for her yet and welcome any suggestions - my son has mentioned Angel and Smudge....
Here she is - sorry for the poor pictures as she is camera shy

Hi!

All the best!
If you can push the cages next to each other or divide a run with grids for the girls to settle in and get to know each other for at at least a day/night or even a few days, that would be best. Sub-teenage piggies are generally desperate for company and guidance, so the bonding will hopefully go well depending on how keen Spooky is on a friend.

Give yourself time to get to know your new piggy, and she'll name herself.
Tips around naming etc. are in this guide here: Guinea Pig Names: considerations, solutions, inspiration and resources

Thanks we are so happy to have her!
We are taking things very slow as we are still traumatized with all that went downwith our dear little Sundae. I read allthe bonding guides and prey this will work!

Ah- beautiful! We have also just welcomed a new baby piggie, Gregory, so going through the same process as you currently 😊 I hope it all goes well (feel free to message me if you want to share stories etc). The bonding guides on the forum from Wiebke have been excellent Xx

How are you getting on with the bonding? Hope it's all going well 👍

The new piggy is still in quarantine in a seperate cage at the moment so they have not been introduced yet. I am glad she is in quaratine as her cage mate (from the place we got her) has a respiratory infection! I was notified yesterday and have removed her from contact with all animals ( we have hamsters as well) and she is currently in my room under strict survelence. So far so good though, she has no signs of any ailements and is eating like a champ. ☺️
Spooky is calling for her since she left the room but is settled down now and back to her routine.
I guess I will have to wait longer than a week to put their cages next to each other as we do ot want sick piggies 😞
