...you other piggies can't deny!*

Anyone know where I can get proper kale from? I've tried greengrocers, no luck, and supermarkets only sell it in stupid chopped up bits. My pigs like proper leaves, not bitty bits, they kind of pick at it and move onto bigger veggies. I've managed to get it once or twice in the past as proper leaves, and they loved it rolleyes

*I think this flu has gone to my head!

I was able to buy little seedlings here in OZ......speak to a nursery that sells veggies :)

for any aussies i got our seedlings from Bunnings

I failed at growing grass rolleyes

I could give it a go though! :))

Independent greengrocers or farm shop? That is where I used to get it. Sadly Misty has never liked it much so only get it occasionally now.

Love the title by the way :)) :))

Love that tune lol

I'm not sure if its proper kale but you can get huge leaves in the supermarkets but its usually labelled/called spring greens and comes in a big bag with 3-4 heads of cabbage stuff. We get it from Morrisons but I'm sure Sainsburys sell it too (in the cabbage section).

Not sure if that helps but your title did make me laugh :))

funniest title of the year award!:)):)):)) Tesco have big bags of kale in, not sure where you get bigger leaves from though. Mine don't care, they will eat anything

you just need that touch ;).......... ask for advice ......aka piggie advice :)).......it needs tender loving care.......... some water please too.............. and then.........speak wheekly to it............. then proceed to.................... well ................... TO BE NOMED UP! :(|):(|)

You can buy those grass kits i know they sell them in the US cause i had one sent to me! (i needed about 1,000 of them tho!)

Tesco sell bags of fresh greens,
Its similar to kale or it might be kale I'm not sure, My piggies love it

Is there a traditional greengrocer you can get to? The stuff they sell isn't so neat and tidy and uniform shaped as supermarket, but is usually not prepared (cheaper too:)) and tastes better
love the title:(|)

I always shop in the greengrocers :)) It's on my way home from uni, cheaper, fresher, but alas, no kale :(

The woman also gives me a call when they get their carrots with tops on so that I can get the tops when they're fresh :))

Our green grocers on the market sell big leaves of kale but only when it's in season which is March time. We have to make do with supermarket bags the rest of the year.

Ahhh, that's probably why I can't find any!

I ended up asking the green grocer because I was still looking for it in April. I'm not sure when the season starts but I know it ends in March :))

We had what they called black kale in our veg box last week, this is the dark green stuff with fairly regular shaped leaves, which grow on a central stem. We also get curly kale, which is a bit lighter green, with large sort of frilly leaves, I think this comes a bit later in the year, but black kale is certainly in season now. I've also seen it called Italian cabbage, (great in minestrone!):(|)

They had some of that I think - the boys weren't keen, but Cameo stripped the leaves and just left the central stalk!

Get some Cavelo Nero (Caverlo Nero?) - They sell it at Morrisons and other supermarkets at this time of year - it's in season now. A dark green curly sort of kale - mine love it and it's far cheaper than kale. Comes in whole leaves or you can chop it - mine are nerdy pigs and like it sliced thinly rolleyes

They like that stuff - I bought it for myself...didn't get a look in!
