We have had a little visitor the last few nights who has made himself very at home!

A little tabby cat, who doesn't look to be very old - I'd guess at 10 - 18 months. He is very friendly and loves a fuss. He (at least I think he's a he) is very slim though; not really skinny, but you can feel his hips and he gobbled up Murdock's biscuits like he hadn't eaten all day.

He's wearing a collar though there is no tag, so I'm guessing he must belong to someone, but I haven't seen him before this week. We asked around our end of the street, but so far nobody owns him :(

Murdock seems pretty tolerant of another cat in his house, but I just don't know what to do :{ I don't really want to encourage him if he is someone else's cat (he's currently asleep on the sofa...) as, to be honest, if I knew Murdock was in someone else's house, I'd be pretty miffed! But I'm worried someone has kicked him out.

We had a little cat on our street whos owners moved house and left her here once before and another old, blind cat dumped here too (who we took to the local shelter) so I'm a little worried he may have been abandoned :(
 
i dont blame for not kicking him out, i wouldnt either, way i think of it is if the cats coming to someone elses house to sleep on the sofa, he obviously doesnt have the best of home lives poor little thing, i think your doing the right thing,

Wow. If you asked locally and no one owns him...It's a bit odd. I know cats are adventurous but I really didn't think they'd travel too far from home.

I don't know if putting up a posters outside the local area would be any good?
I mean, you never know...It could be a lost cat. Have you checked maybe the local vets or the local post office or somewhere to see if there are any lost cat posters.
He might have wandered just that a bit too far and got himself a little confused.

I really don't know what I'd do if I were in your shoes. You don't want to keep him as your own because he might belong to someone...But on the other hand he could be lost or abandoned.
It's a bit silly not to put a tag or anything on his collar, though.
You know...did you think he might be chipped? I'm not sure how the chipping thing works but couldn't you take him to your vet and see?
 
putttin signs up would be a ** idea, or advert in local paper i see alot of those, lost and found sort of thing, atleast if some one has lost him they can claime him back, thing is you never know anymore peopl just seem to kick pets out as alot of re homing centres are full
 
its poss a lost cat i know if my cat if i now had one went missing i would love for someone like you feed and look after her/him.. in the mean time put some posters up and see if your local paper does a lost/found articel that you could check and put her in as found ...

My relatives had a male cat who they had had for years but when they moved house he ran away back to his old territory (the old house) and lived with their old neighbours. There was quite a distance between houses. I don't claim to be an expert but i believe its fairly common in tomcats.
Although that said its probably not the case with this cat so do everything the others have said just wanted to tell my little cat story:red
