hi, has anyone had any experience with using lawn weed and feed and letting their pigs graze? we used a box of asda weed and feed on our lawn last week and watered it in as instructed. it said that it should be safe for animals to graze but i'm a bit unsure, really want to put the pigs out but worried that there might be some harmful chemicals in it? any advice!?

i would not put your piggies on it don't trust anything just in case, my piggys aren't allowed on anything that has been sprayed wheather it says its safe or not best bet would be to ask the neighbours to let your piggies graze thats what i do because mine was sprayed before i got my piggys or your can buy trays of grass:)

Hi, yes I did mine about four weeks ago now, mine haven't been allowed on yet, better to be safe than sorry. I am going to give it another couple of weeks just to be safe. By this time it will have been cut about four times.

I would agree with the previous posts. Allow if to have a couple of mows before you let them back on. Do you have a front garden they can graze on or would a neighbour allow you to borrow a patch of lawn? It may sound odd but both my neighbours have let me put a run with pigs out on theirs and my parents neighbours also let them put their piggies on their run when they go on holiday.

Better safe than sorry.

I wouldn't want my pigs to eat anything that 'kills' stuff (weeds) I guess there must be some sort of chemical in there to kill weeds. Feed can have some grizzly contents too. I'd say a definite no for a good while after. xx

thanks everyone :) yeah, i think i'll leave them off the grass for a while. we've mowed it once since, so will give it a few more weeks. front garden's got no grass as it's paved with flower borders but i'll pick some grass from the park or something and at least they can have something tasty in their hutch in the meantime!
