Hi everyone
So up until recently I have been feeding my piggie muesli it was only until we got our other one that I realised you were supposed to feed them mainly pellets... So I've added some extra pellets into his food but he is just leaving them he's really not eating them at all
Any advice?
Thanks

As long as they have hay and veggies it should be fine. They may come around eventually. Two of mine took a while to start eating them.

The muesli tastes much nicer than the pellets, so that is why he is leaving them and while there is muesli there i would have thought it unlikely he would choose the pellets ove it.
Pellets are such a small part of the diet (and some people don’t feed pellets at all). You are supposed to change food over gradually but I wonder whether it would be worth stopping the muesli altogether (it’s not as if it’s all that good for him, so stopping wouldnt be detrimental to his diet), give extra hay. Then try putting a few pellets in his bowl, not a lot because it is meant to be a gradual change but just enough so that if he wants dry food, he will eat them. If not, he has got plenty of hay which should be the most part of his diet anyway.

What pellets have you got? You may find he prefers different ones. Some piggies won't eat one particular type but will eat others.

Harrington pellets.
Yes he always has a lot of hay, my other boy won't touch muesli only pellets but when I tried to get George to change over he doesn't even bother with them. I put them in and took the muesli out completely for 2 days and kept him with hay and veggies but he didn't touch the pellets..

My older guinea pigs don't eat pellets at all, i only give it to my younger one's as a top up, but they will eventually weaned off them too.

My older guys have veg, grass, hay & hay! They are healthy & happy without them.

So if your piggy isn't keen on pellets, i wouldn't worry about giving them.
