Hi all,
I have just weighed by guinea pigs over the weekend. They haven't been accurately weighed in a while as we haven't got any scales. Our 6 month old pigs are a healthy weight but I was wondering how much the 2 month old should weigh-

Pebbles- 1lb (453 grams)
Pearl- 1.2 lb (510 grams)

Pebbles has been a little bit poorly recently so she may have lost a little bit of weight which she will put on now she is a bit better but funnily enough there is also 60 grams difference between to two big ones as well.

Thanks

The weights sound good. Guinea pigs can have such a range of individual weights that guidelines are frankly pretty useless. Smaller youngsters will generally continue to grow quickly a bit longer than youngsters who reach their ideal genetically determined size/weight sooner. My adult guinea pigs range from touching 800g to nearly 1500g - and all are perfectly OK in themselves.

With a good balanced diet as recommended by the forum, your little piggies will reach their own ideal weight and size in good time.

Thanks I was worried that she was a little but small but I guess I will just make sure she is gaining weight steadily and she will be fine. My big ones are both over 700g with Betty closer to the 800g mark .. little porker :)

No, they are both good weights for their age! ;)
