My boys had out of no where been completely ignoring the pellets I had been giving , but their appetite is fine for hay and veggies, and I don't think it was a tooth issue as they happily will eat the oxbow vitamin c tablets which are way harder.

Not to be weird, but when my pigs are acting a bit odd with their food I will occasionally try one of the pellets as a sort of quality control to make sure there's nothing wrong with it and I noticed a weird bitter taste in LOT 19044 of the Oxbow Essentials Adult Guinea Pig Food. They could just be stale, maybe I didn't close it properly a few times, but it seemed a bit odd in comparison to usual.

They haven't had any health issues with it that I've noticed, other than some minor weight loss from skipping them (which I have a close eye on) but the taste seemed weird and they've been picky since I opened this bag (they are happily eating the garden select oxbow pellets now). I don't really think it's anything harmful, but either they're bored of them, or there's something wrong with the taste? I am not feeding them regardless.

It could be nothing more than my pigs being picky, but I emailed oxbow to be safe. I figured it would be best to post here just in case there is an issue with that specific batch, and if I hear anything from them I'll update here! It's the only time that I've seen any issues with the pellets.

I have a really picky piggie as well, maybe they are sick of the Oxbow pellets? Mine have been eating them. Have you tried or thought of switching to another brand?

Guinea pigs have abut double the tastebuds that humans have. If they suddenly stop eating pellets, then there is usually somehting wrong with them.

Production or storage issues can occasionally happen. I have had one or two spoiled bags over the years.
