Hi everyone!
I'm new around here ☺ I'm creating this page because I'm a little bit concerned about something. So, today my sister found a weird small piece of grayish fur in one of our piggy's cages (we have no gray piggies). It looked what I believe to be rat's/mouse's fur and my sister said it smelled bad, which I don't know how it would get there. We also live in an apartment and we have no other rodents.

Has anything like that ever happened to anyone before? What do you recommend I should do? Should I be concerned?

Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome!

Please throw your hay away and contact the shop you got your hay from; you should be offered a replacement bag.

It can occasionally happen that stuff that should not be in a hay bag get into it during harvesting, like the bodies of small animals.

I'm a little bit late, but thank you for your answer. I threw the hay away, washed and cleansed the whole cage and gave my piggies a bath, just in case.
