Hi everyone,

While cutting G's nails earlier this evening I noticed this piece of dry looking skin hanging off her foot...

It's firmly on her foot and wont budge when I've tried to see if it was just bit of hay or something stuck in there.

Has anyone seen anything similar before? It doesn't seem to be bothering her in anyway she's acting normal and she didn't flinch when I touched it.

She lives on megazorb and hay. I've heard a few things that megazorb can dry out piggy's feet. Do you think it's this that's caused it?

Thanks in advance!

Cat xx

I'm sure thats quite common. I read about it somewhere, but not sure what causes it. Humbert had quite a big one and I gently clipped it off with nail clippers- not too close to the skin. Think its like us having dry skin on our feet.

Great thanks both for your help! Glad I've found out what it is. Not seen anything like it before.

I don't think I'm brave enough to cut it off myself :... Maybe I'll phone the vet and see if he'll do it for me...

One of my rainbow bridge piggys, Garry got those on his feet, they didn't seem to bother him at all, I also trimmed them if they got a bit long, I wouldn't be to worried about it :) xx

Yoshi used to have some little ones but I wasn't brave enough to trim them so tried GG's Kwench lotion instead ( you need to do a patch test first btw). That pretty much cleared them up.

My Phoebe had something like that a few weeks ago, I left it as it didn't seem to be bothering her. I looked again the other day and it doesn't seem to be there anymore.

My girl Onyx has foot spurs if they get too long i trim them very careful with the nail clippers that i use for their nails.
They don't bother her at all :)

Ginger and Snap have those too, except black ones because their tosies are black. I wanted to post a thread about this, but I found yours. Thanks!:(|)

OH this is what my Bumble has at the moment, she's not bothered by it but one is quite long and sticking off the side and I'm worried about her catching it. I've booked into the vets on Friday for it to be trimmed as I went to do it a couple of times myself and I can't lol

Cat, you can always pop her up to me and I'l do it for you - and show you how to do it yourself in the future. Footspurs are nothing to worry about but do need trimming carefully.
