Hi,

I'm going to house some pigs in my wendy house in hutches and as they will have access to the floor i wondered whether it was more hygenic to put lino down or would that be too slippery for them. I would have an area of vet bed but because of having the hutches in there it would be difficult (an expensive) to do the whole floor.

Any other ideas please?

I'm going to use my old Wendy house in the summer and then they will come back in the cage (inside the house) in winter.

I do think it would be too slippery. My guinea pig's find it hard to even stand up on laminate flooring!
I don't know what too use for the floor either!

I don't know what a Wendy House is, or how big they are, but could you maybe use some form of old bedding over top of lino? We can get blankets from a thrift shop for $3.00 here (maybe 1.50 GBP). Of if you're looking for a permanent solution and could stand the expense, maybe a tile floor, like slate or limestone? They're not very slippery if you get the rough hewn stone.

If you get slip resistant lino then you shouldnt have a problem... You can also get rubber flooring which is non slip also and can be used on ramps... :)

I have the cheap vinyl tiles on the bottom of my wendy house for the rabbits and they can slip but not as much a piggies would and I'm gonig to put non slip over the top next month...

Hi Rachel,
A wendy house is a childs play house (i guess the first one must have been made for a girl called Wendy!) Its 6 ft x 4ft so not very large.

Hi
My piggies are in hutches in the shed but then have playtime in their runs during the day - there is lino on the floor but I cover this with newspaper and then Barley Straw which they love to hide in - hope this helps.

Yes, Thank you i've now bought non-slip lino and laid it. (Bargain from Carpet-Right). But the barley straw is a good idea.
