Tewdric
Teenage Guinea Pig
I had to take Wenlock for her final trip to the vet on Saturday morning. At over 6 years of age, I knew she was becoming frailer with a few other complications, but on Saturday morning she showed/told me she'd had enough.

She was a Blue Cross rescue, born at the end of June in 2016. She came home to us with her sister Wellington on 4th September 2016. The two babies were soon being shown the ropes by Brunel and Lilith, and Wenlock quickly clocked onto the 'cute pose means food from the humans' trick. Here Brunel was showing her the optimum cute nose angle!

The gang of 4 were very happy together.

Once Lilith passed on, the gang were joined by Agatha and Christie, who also came from the Blue Cross. Wenlock really wasn't concerned, she was never 'top pig', but that never bothered her. As the years passed and we lost both Mr Brunel and latterly Wellington in December 2020 the reduced tribe of 3 seemed content with each other, and Wenlock would happily snuggle up with either of the other 2.
Wenlock was an outgoing little soul, who knew her own mind and could be quite stubborn. She knew what she wanted, and she usually managed to get it as well. As she aged, she'd often demand her share of goodies be delivered to the upper story of the hutch, whilst the two 'youngsters' ate downstairs. There'd be a piercing wheeak at ear level as she nosed the bars reminding me that she needed her tea NOW! She was never cuddly, but she was very patient when the nail clippers came out.
She was amazingly good at avoiding the camera, and I've got loads of photos of 'the disappearing pig' as she's demonstrating here with Agatha and Christie. The few 'good' photos I've got of her are very precious.

RIP my little lion pig.
