what a twit artie is

this morning got in the boys shed to find Artie my silver agouti on his side with his back leg twisted the daft pig had got hay twisted round and round it and he had hurt his back /leg twisting it, I managed to get it off him but his back leg is paralised, I am giving him metcam for pain relief and hoping rest will heal it, if not off to the vets tuesday, got a feeling rest will help him though, cant go tomorrow as I have a neuro appointment at hospital and would rather give it time to heal before the vets start mucking him about with medication etc at least with metcam I know hes not in pain, why did he not chew the hay off is what I cannot understand,
what a freak accident to happen, has anyone else heard of this before? It s new one to me , he is now on paper and vet bed,
