Hi will soon be getting 2 little boys! they are still with mum but what age is best for boys to leave mum? x

Boys need to come away from mum at about 3-4 weeks (depending on their weight) otherwise they can impregnate her or their sisters. When I have babies here I separate the boars at 3-4 weeks, and then keep them a couple of weeks until they're a good weight to go to their new homes - usually 6-8 weeks. To put my mind at rest that they're ok after weaning.

Different people vary though, so it might be different where they come from.

Bet you can't wait!

They are 3 weeks old I think. I cant wait! Got to think of names now! EEEKKKK!!

all mine are weaned at 3 weeks old to prevent breeding.good luck with your new ones i bet they are super cute

well my 5 boys left mum at 3 weeks well it was 2 weeks and 6 days and there did fine

I think there's a difference (or there is with me!) between the age to take them away from mum, and the age at which they should be rehomed. I always monitor babies very closely when they come away from mum, to make sure they're eating and drinking ok and not losing any weight. I like to keep them for a week or 2 to make sure, so they are usually 5-6 weeks old before I would move them for rehoming.

I second that, no babies leave until they are at LEAST 6-8 weeks old.
I too like to make sure they are a good weight and eating well before leaving the careful watch of my beady eye!

my baby boys left there Mum yesterday at 3 weeks old, il be keeping an eye on them then in a week or two's time the 2 that will be leaving me will move into a cage of their own and ill monitor them again for a week or two before they leave.

I agree with the above, keep an eye on them and if you feel they are getting hormonal before 4 weeks, remove them to be on the safe side. By 4 weeks the mum would have got fed up with them! :))
