I know there are lists and lists everywhere but I get confused with calcium and stuff! :red I am not normally stupid! lol

I feed them pak choi, spinach, rocket, curly kale, celery, cucumber, peppers, sometimes mini corn cobs and sometimes banana.

It is mainly the leaf products I am asking about because they devour them and I don't want to be giving too much of the wrong thing. They really go for it when I put leaves in! They even overcome their fears of me being there to get to it! :(|)

They don't do that with any other veg!

I've read that celery should be limited too, and it should be stripped of those weird lines in it apprantly. It can make a guinea pig gases apprantly.

Oh right, I do chop it into tiny pieces and remove the stringy bits. I will now only fed it every other day. Thanks. x x

Spinach, curly kale, rocket and celery should not be given on a daily basis. Spinach and curly kale less often than rocket and celery.

Thanks for the info I really didnt know about celery but knew about the others. So can you give all types of lettuce everyday except iceberg of course? What about carrots and cucumber? Every other day too?

Everyone has different views on what can be fed daily and what cannot, and to be honest there is no hard and fast rule despite all the concerns about calcium etc. As the link above said, variety and moderation is key. I do know what you are saying though - if you're thinking of a couple of absolute staple foods that you can give every single day, and just give a couple of things different each day on top of the staples, the ones I really recommend are:

- Coriander
- Lettuces (any type other than iceberg)

I also find that courgette it a good one to feed daily if the pigs take to it, although not many do! I used to work with the staples diet, but I like the freedom I have now of just having one or two staples and keep rotating the variety of everything else each week.

Carrots and cucumber are fine to feed daily as long as they are part of a variety and given in moderation! I have not heard those claims about celery before, I don't remove the strings but I do cut it up and it does not affect my pigs with chronic bloat (who are notably affected by gassy foods).

Ah I've been giving them curkly kale everyday since I got a bag of it and ran out of my rocket/leafy lettuce stuff :...
I roate whenever things run out...is that a bad idea? It's just until our landlord gets us another fridge I'm limited to space for veg and such! They've also been getting small amounts of celery everyday too...gah!

I thought I was doing it right after my research...now I'm a tad worried :...

Honestly, don't worry. It sounds complicated but it's actually pretty flexible and it's just about being sensible and watching what you give them.

You're far more likely to come across problems if you feed kale daily in large amounts for months and months. A smallish amount daily for a few weeks is very unlikely to be a problem.

My own pigs diets are usually only rotated once a week as well, they have the same foods daily for a week and a totally different diet the following week.

I give celery every day but it's in very small amounts, like 2 small chunks each.

I normally give about 6 or 7 fruit / veg in a meal but little bits of each rather than lots of one thing. I hope they are getting lots of variety and not too much of one thing that can cause them harm.

I love giving herbs but with 9 of them to feed I just can't do it every day now. Although I do look out for herb bargains in supermarkets. Yesterday for example I got a mint plant for 10p! If you shop late at night (9 or 10pm) the herbs are often reduced to 5 or 10 p a pack so those are happy days!

Oops, think I am feeding them too much. I give them 2 dishes to prevent squabbles but they end up sharing anyway despite Hoggle pulling Parsley out of Ludo's mouth before. rolleyes:))

I thought rocket was ok daily, I have just bought 3 bags :red

I also cut the celery small and also chop cucumber small. I give them loads and loads of parsley, they adore it. Is that safe daily?

I am limiting their spinach even though it is included in one bag of their rocket. Is brocolli ok daily?

They don't like carrot or tomato.

you dont have to reomve the stringy bits on celery i just cut it into tiny 1cm size pieces and that stops the stringy bits being to long,Celery/lettuce/cucumber and basically anything watery should be monitored,i make it a rule that mine never get more than a small amount of watery things each day, bloat is much higher chance if not monitored,i have heard of celery doing this
brocolli is high in calcium so should only be fed 1-2 times per week,
Parsely is also high in calcium and should not be fed in huge amounts daily,
try green beens they can be fed a little more often and peppers are another good one to,i feed less of red peppers than i do of other colours as it is a little higher in sugar x
