What can I do?

Hi all,
I have all my piggies out in the garden at mo for some fresh air and have provided plenty of shade (igloos, logs etc aswell as covering one end of run in damp towels) and they have plenty of water. I am still worried that they will get too hot though especially Dior as she has masses of hair. I gave her a haircut recently but she still has lots of hair and I dont want her to bake out there but at the same time I dont want them to roast in the house either. Is there anything else I can provide to make them comfortable in the heat?

I put a towel in the freezer for a little while (or the fridge) then put it on the floor. they love to lie on it but move when theve had enough. Its not a great solution but it works for a little while

Put a water bottle in the freezer and then wrap it in a towel so the pigies can crowd around it!

If you can get it frozen enough, but some old big plates or flat baking dish in the fridge, cover with a thin old tea towel and let them crawl on that for a bit of relief.

Pieces of cucumbre or melon straight from the fridge are welcome as well.

Guinea pigs can lose heat easily through ears and feet. Bare skin basically, where they have a decent blood supply. So even a damp towel can be a relief to a hot piggie when they put their feet on it. I have had mine swimming in shallow water in a pool with a bridge to climb in and out in very hot weather - they like it - but a shallow tray with water in might work just as well so that they could paddle through it and get the cooling effect on their feet. Mind you - really hot weather for that one I think.

I put a tray with a dishcloth in it and soaked it in cold water so they could jump in and out of it to cool down if they wanted. Was funny to watch actually as they were unsure of it at first but eventually Duke got in and lay down on it and stayed there for ages
