My piggy Comet is roughly 1268g and I know they range from 900-1200. Am I being too picky about his weight or should I try to limit his food? Thanks!

900-1200g is the average weight for a guinea pig, however, not all of them fall within this range. Check if he feels overweight. you should be able to feel ribs. If you can't feel them, he's needing to slim down a bit. It's quite rare for a properly fed, well exercised piggy to be overweight, since they have such a high metabolism.

I have a one year old boar who is already 1430 g and still growing! However, I can feel his ribs and my vet also confirmed he's not overweight. So some pigs can just be big by nature and fall out of the average weight range :)

I have 2 sisters who both weigh in at over 1300 grams. They get checked by the vet nurse every couple of months when she does their claws.
She has never suggested that they are overweight.

Ha, I have a boar who is over 1.5 kg. He is massive but not overweight. You can feel his hip bones and he looks well proportioned. You will know if your pig looks fat as they won't be a perfect guinea pig shape.
