So everybody knows I have a one year-old skinny pig and I have a three-year-old guinea pig was fur ones. A male neutered one’s a female. I tried to bond them in a big open space with hay food. They did OK eating near each other. Lotta really loud teeth, chattering a lot of fluffing which I’ve done bonding before, but this time my skinny pig moose, who’s usually very lovely was jumping and flying on top of her to try to bite her so obviously, I separated them. I gave them one other chance to hopefully work it out and he did it again and is even more aggressive. He’s never been with any other pigs so I wanted to get him a friend hoping I could bond him with one of my trio and it’s not working. I thought it would be easy to bond a male with a female. Am I doing something wrong?

I’m sorry to hear this.

You aren’t doing anything wrong - the two piggies have to be compatible to be able to form a bond. The fact he hasn’t been with other pigs might be an issue but equally it might not and they just, sadly and unfortunately, aren’t compatible.

OK, I just thought because he’s a male and she’s a female automatically. It wouldn’t be a problem. I’ve read so much and watched so many videos and I have bonded my trio and I’ve bonded another pair before with no problems. I just feel horrible because he’s never been with any other piggies and I do have his cage, though attached to their so he has some interaction with them and them just being attached to like that there’s fighting there’s no teeth chattering or anything. They just go up to the cage sniff and then walk away. I just wanted to get him a cage mate and was hoping that one of my females from my trio would bond well with him.

I even got him neutered so I’d be able to get him a friend which obviously isn’t cheap lol I spent over $100 on both my males to get neutered and my other male who I had adopted he bonded with my females very easily so I was just so hoping that it would happen again with my skinny pig moose, cause he’s such a sweetheart to me

I meant I spent over 800 for each male to be neutered. will it be ok just to keep the cages connected so he can interact like that ?I'm so sad dont want him to be lonely

I’m sorry the bonding hadn’t worked.
Any bond comes down to compatibility but just because they are opposite sex does not guarantee success.

Side by side cages is the next best thing as they san still interact but without the pressure of sharing territory

Ok that’s good because he flew into the air at her twice and I thought he’d be the easier one lol he’s such a sweet boy lol
