I usually clean my indoor cages with antibacterial washing up liquid and hot water but saw some 'Bob Martin My Little Friend Cage Disinfectant' so thought I would try it. My cages are plastic bottoms and wire cage tops. I've used it this morning and it smells really strong. I have blocked sinus' but it was making me sneeze and despite rinsing the cage out I could not seem to totally get rid of the small. The piggies had a sneeze when I put them back in but were soon ok. It smells like Brut aftershave. The instructions are to spray, wipe clean and wipe dry but I had to thoroughly wash it all off. Surely such overpowering smell is very bad for the piggies? It says it is antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral which is great but I wouldn't use it again. What does everyone else use please?

I use white vinegar,it's the only thing I found gets the urine stains off ,I put it in a spray bottle spray it loads on the wee bits and leave for a while it dissolves the stains, I use a damp cloth to wipe it off dry with kitchen roll that's it.

We use F10. diluted in a small spray bottle... Lasts for ages due to the dilution rate..

I use vinegar and antibacterial spray with hot water.

I use johnstons distinfectant on my cage.. I hoover the vet bed then remove, fold up puppy pads then remove, hoover base of cage, spray johnstons disinfectant, wipe with cloth, rinse cloth and rewipe, then dry with a towel. I very rarely have urine on the base of my cage. This distinfectant is strong enough in my case and safe for my girls. Have used it for years now! X

I scrub everything with white vinegar. It is cheap, easy, and nontoxic!

Thank you for your replies. I use puppy pads under hemp bedding to protect from urine stains. I would use newspaper's but can't seem to get hold of any.

i use the confi2clean spray and /or wipes (from hayexperts) - it works well and doesn't have a strong smell :)
