What do you feed?

hi, i was wondering what everyone feeds their female piggies, and what do they weigh?

i got my two rescue piggies today, and they're twice the size of my girls, despite one being younger. but all three of mine have their little pot bellies. Allie and Parsley are not much over 700g, and Tiny is 850g. but Maria the rescue piggie must be around 1kg.

my girls get all of their veggies, and unlimited hay, and i feed them Burgess Supa Excel. however, they also live outside, and have a lot of runaround space. Parsley and Allie are both only about 9 months old, and Tiny is 4. i've read their weights are average, but they suddenly look pitifully small by comparison

so, are my piggies oddballs? or is this a norm for outdoor piggies?

All my pigs live outside in hutches in their shed. They have unlimited hay, wagg muesli, readigrass & veggies. The adult girls (1yr+) weigh between 968g-1314g. Weeble is 2+ & she is the lightest of all the adults.
If they are eating, drinking & look healthy that's all that matters

I have 7 girls and they all vary hugely in their weight. Some just have a more slim phisique than others. The lighter ones are by no means the under-pigs, they're just different like people! Mine range from 810g to 1125g.

i think i may get some of this. my sister (who's on a zoologyy course at the minute) told me that pellets are in general better for health as they're a complete diet and can't be eaten selectively. she gives a mixture of pellets and meusli to the bunnies outside.

Layla also told me when i got Alfie that the rescue piggies primarily tend to eat Wagg, so i'm seeing a pattern. i think my piggies may get introduced to this today. they're by no means skinny, and have been looked at by vets, but at the same time, being a little heavier won't hurt them. so i'll get some and see how big of a difference it makes i needed to get some for Muppet and Maria anyway

My piggies get unlimited hay, veg three times a day (admittedly it is easier to split veg into more portions with ten piggies!) And pellets, about 1/2 handful per piggy per day in two servings - they are all grown adults now. Mine have just gone off Burgess Excel pellets after a year or so, so I'm in the process of trying to find something else they like. Either cut grass or access to the lawn during the growing season.

My tribe weigh between 985g (Ceri) and 1370g (Nerys). Hafina is currently weighing a very decent 1002g, but I'm sure even she will put on a little bit more eventually.
There is not much difference in weight between males and females. My neutered boar is not the biggest of the group by any means (usually between 1250-1300g, but he is recovering at the moment) and my top sow weighs just 1060g.

My piggies live outdoors too. They have unlimited hay and P@H nuggests (as they never finish the nuggets left for them) and veggies in the evening. They often go out on the lawn for an hour or so in the evening, provided it's not throwing it down (like today )

Pippa is the heaviest at 1.269 kg and Willow and Pixel both weigh 1.082 kg.

Willow and Pippa are both about 19 months or so and Pixel is about 10 months old now

Mine do selectively feed but they eat most of it & won't touch pellets. However, i feed my buns the same as your sister (pellet & muesli mix ) but they only get a small handful per day between them.

i don't know the ratio for my sisters bunny food mix. really, i just know that the indoor bunnies only have pellets, and the outdoor bunnies have pellets and muesli.

i got some muesli for my piggies today, so i'm going to see what difference it makes to my girlies weights.

i'm rather confused by Tiny. she's 850g, but isn't 'skinny' at all. she's a very odd shape. she isn't pear shaped at all like the other four piggies. she has a 'thin' bum and front, but has a little pot belly. but then, she's always been a funny looking piggy. she was from a pet shop, and as well as being oddly proportioned, has a very pointy nose, and quite boggly eyes. so i think maybe it's just really bad breeding. Parsley and Allie, who are about 9 months old, are both just over 700g, and have the usual pear shaped bodies. before using the forum, i didn't even know guinea pigs could get that big, so i'm definitely going to be working on bulking my three up :{
