In these worrying days of uncertainty I thought we could cheer ourselves up a bit. So what is the best compliment/nicest thing anybody has ever said about you?

I'll start off.

I was told by an old friend that I was the nicest, kindest person they had ever met.

I don't know about nicest comment but recently a client I had been working with for over a year gave me a present for the baby and wrote on the tag "thank you, you have been our star". I was just doing my job but it's always nice to know the impact that can have on peoples lives and be appreciated

I don't know which of these is the best so will write them both.

A boss I had a few years ago said she wished she could convince me of my own ability and inject me with some confidence. She said I was one of the best, most sensible and hardest workers she ever had.

My vet told us we are some of the best piggie parents she has - thank you forum it's all down to you.

Having worked in the nhs for over 40 years I’m proud to have had many nice compliments. I currently work in mental health for older adults The funniest was when a patient upon discharge expressed sincere gratitude for my help and support. Within seconds I walked to another part of the ward when another patient said ‘and here comes another bag of sh*t’ . The contrast still makes me laugh out loud 😁

When I was doing a student waitressing job in a very busy hotel, one man said he'd been watching me the whole time, and could see I went to multiple tables in the exact order of when they needed one course cleared for the next, so he could see I was thinking about it the whole time and trying to provide good service. In what was often a thankless job, that compliment really cheered me up.

When I was 10 I was a tourist in new city and I saved a person's life and he got so happy he gave me his lucky seashell pendant and told me to always keep doing what I did. I still wish i could meet him once more in my life

I’m sure he would like to meet you again too. You should be very proud 😁

At a time when I was really struggling with my mental health my pole dancing instructor told me "I don't see why you don't trust yourself, the rest of us all trust you but don't worry we'll work on it" sometimes the right sentence at the right time will stay with you forever.

the other day a child at work spent nearly a full school day throwing things at me, ripping up work and screaming and swearing at me saying that I was "no fun" because I wanted them to do their work rather that drawing on the white board. I'm used to this sort of treatment but it was so sweet when another child who had been acting similar the week before turned to me and said "don't worry miss he's just like that sometimes" and one member of staff took the time to say "you're good at your job he'd be like this for anyone"

Hmmm..
Your a sack of.
Your usel..
Dont cook that again or I'll send gordan ramsay to eat you...

Hmmm not sure to be honest.
Lo

Someone told me once I had a "nice, calming aura" which is hilarious, because calm and serene just isn't in my nature lol. Other than that, apparently I have an ability to just...get people to talk. Pretty sure it's the accent.

Am I lbeing strange or are you from N Ireland @Lorcan? May be my jelly brain!

I am, but I live in Rochdale. The accent's maybe not as strong as it used to be, but I've not lost it in over 6 years!
Thought that’s why I remembered! My grandad was a northern Irishman, perfect lullaby voice to send you to sleep :D :)) The family would come over and tell him he wasn’t Irish anymore, lost his accent! Came over at 19 and stayed so probably sounded like a proper Englishman to them!

Yeah I've no doubt they'd say the same about me back home too, but it doesn't mean the locals can understand me any better :))

I couldn’t understand a word of the random great aunts or uncles that’d visit when my grandad was still with us, normally had a couple too! How long has it been since you’ve seen family etc? If that’s not a nosy q?!

It's been a couple of years. My parents stop over on the way to somewhere else every so often...but that's maybe once a year, and the last time was about 18 months ago. I haven't been over in about 4 or 5 years.

Good that you see them sometimes then. Hopefully won’t be too long til you do again with the madness! I always wanted to go and see where my grandad grew up, maybe in the future!

I know someone who keeps all the really snarky, sarcastic memes that she can find just to let me see them, because apparently I'm the first one that comes to mind when she sees them.

I also got told today I had the patience of a saint for not calling my local council all the choice names under the sun while I was on the phone with them.

We had a leaving party when my work closed a few years ago. At the end of the night there was lots of tears & hugs. One member of staff who worked in a different building told me she was sad we never got the chance to work properly together as everyone says how brilliant I am at my job & how good I am with the children. I've always remembered that.

I keep in touch with one of my teachers. We message & catch up in person when we can. She always believed in me & never gave up on me. Around the time I finished uni she dropped onto one of her messages to me "I'm so proud of you" which made me smile.
