Oh my goodness! He needs to see a vet asap, that could be a massive abscess or severe infection. Poor little baby!

Please contact a piggy savvy vet and get him seen as soon as you can, must be very painful! Is he being treated with baytril for his infection still?

That looks painful, please seek a vet as soon as possible. Poor thing :( x

it appears to be an abcess,he needs to be seen by a vet urgently.I'm sorry you are having problems.i had a boar 18 months down the line of neutering that had a big abcess come up.it was drained, but the abcess had envoloped all his penis and perianal sac,so could not pee or poo, that was an emergency at 2am in the morning.:(

I'm sorry about your boar I hope he's better but I definitely want to him to see a vet but thanks to my dad this is the result he didn't want to believe that there was something wrong with him

yes thanks he made a full recovery.i had to syringe the abcess hole for a month, and syringe feed as he stopped eating.your piggie needs to see a vet as soon as possible,if it bursts you could have a very difficult time with infection in his inner organs.

ok,try and keep your boy comfortable, ensure he is eating and drinking, peeing ok.have you any pain relief for him?weight him daily,if his weight drops 50grams or more then i would start to syringe feed him you can use mashed up pellets, but he should be fine until you get to the vet.please try and get to the vet in the morning,it is an emergency.how many weeks ago was he neutered?please keep this thread updated on how your piggie is .piggies they do make us worry.x

The vet saw him and now he has to take some medicine I think he's better now because I see him eat and drink but thank you all for worrying about him one thing I like to know is that I don't want him to be in this cage long and I want him to be in the big cage with Farrah how long do you think I have to live he here

Qurantine period is around 2 weeks I think for sick piggies but I'd asked your vet as they know more on the illness and if it's contagious etc. Glad he's doing well though! :)

Please post on the thread this is in relation to and not a separate thread for an update. I had not seen your previous post so not a clue on what this is about but have just searched your postings and seen there are members eagerly awaiting an update

After neutering boys need to stay apart from girls for 6 weeks.

Did the vet do anything to the lump? If it was an abscess they normally make a hole and empty to out.

Do you know what the medicine is? It should say on the bottle, along with whag dose to give.

Was it an abscess that they drained? Or something else? What's the medicine called? I'm so glad he's doing better!

The vet told me that it was an abscess and they drained it so the medicine are painkillers and antibiotics
So it was just lanced and drained and didn't need marsupialisation? Has it been left open so you can flush it daily? Which antibiotic has been prescribed and at what dose?
